Mulligans in Highland Heights has been a favorite of mine for years. The food is honestly the best bar fare I have ever had. The prices are pretty much the cheapest around on both food and alcohol, and the wait staff is fantastic.  I read a review from "MIKE", and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I have NEVER, in all the years I have been going there, (2-3 times a week for 5 years), experienced anything less than the best service.  You NEVER have to wait for anything because the entire staff works together.  You don't just have one server, all of them wait on you.  If you truly went to Mulligans as much as you say, then you would know that and you would know that it would be impossible to sit there for that length of time with no one waiting on you.  Regardless of "Mike's" negative opinion, Mulligans is great. As a regular customer, I personally know the managers, and they are NEVER rude.  What kind of manager would be?  Managers don't exactly like to lose buisness. Every restaurant has crazy busy moments where mistakes happen. If you work in the industry, then you know that, and it doesn't make things go any faster when you have a customer that is rude while you are trying to fix the problem. I find it highly unlikely that the story told by "MIKE" above went anyway like that at all. Regardless of one crabby person,  the point is; if you are looking for a place to go with a nice atmosphere, friendly bartenders, great food, and nice people to have a beer with, Mulligans is your best bet. There are 2 bars to chose from, lots of big tv's,tons of booths and tables, and a HUGE bigscreen tv. I thoroughly enjoy going there to watch all the games, have some of the worlds best wings and a nice cold one.  They also put on a hell of a St. Patricks Day party.  If you're in the area, check it out. I guarantee you won't just go once.

Is Mulligan's Going Down Hill? We seem to think so..January 11, 2008

My wife and I have enjoyed eating lunch at Mulligan's for years. We both work in the area and like to meet at Mulligans for lunch at least 2-3 times a month, until now. The server staff is somewhat friendly but that's not why we have lunch there. We enjoy the atmosphere and the food is normally served quickly. We walked in at 11:45 AM and ordered a salad and a Reuben by 11:50 AM. I have worked in the restaurant business for years and truly understand the lunch rush can be hectic and may take a little longer than normal. My wife were enjoying each others company when we notice the table (4 top which sat down 5 mins after us) next to us receiving there food. We looked at each and the time was 12:15 PM. So we called the server over and asked what the delay was. She said the kitchen was backed up and start running off while in the middle of "I'll Check your order". Fine I understand delays. No big deal. So we continued our conversation with each other. Shortly after the table that came in 10 mins after us received there food. Now I started to wonder if the kitchen was really backed up. Our server never came back and never looked our way. Now it's 12:30 PM and we only have 45 mins for our lunch, so I walked to the bar and explained to a gentleman we waited 40 mins for our food and can we please get it to go. He seemed a bit frustrated and when back into the kitchen. The gentleman came back to our table with our food and handed me the bill. I gave him my money and checked our order and to our surprise it was the wrong order (how can you mess up a salad and Ruben???). So when he came back with my change I explained we waited 40 mins for our lunch, the server never checked on us, no one ever apologized or explained the delay and now we have the incorrect order? So I requested my money back. The guy stormed off like everything was my fault. When he came back I mentioned no one explained why there was a delay or even apologized. He rudely said the server forgot to put the order in. I said a simple apologized and explanation would have been nice. He said sorry have a nice day and walked off. It was 12:35 PM I never caused a scene, never asked for free food or was rude. I really can understand delays and mistakes, but when your server lies to you and the manager is rude and makes you feel like you (the customer) did something wrong. Your just not happy. If the manager or server would have came back and said sorry but I forgot to put the order in I'll put a rush on it, my wife and I would have totally understood. Mistakes happen.. Just don't lie and ignore us and who knows what the server said to the manager so that he would treat us like trash. If she lied once she'll lie again. It's sad my wife and I really enjoyed the atmosphere and food but if we are treated like trash we are not coming back and we will tell other people about our experience.

While service has never been their strong point, the much-better-than-average food has kept me coming back about once a month for years, even if the wait staff isn't really friendly, and usually on the slow side. Unfortunately, an experience a few nights ago left me with that "I'll never go back THERE again" feeling. Upon the arrival of the really tasty wings, we noticed a winged bug trying out the celery. Having worked for years in a restaurant, I thought it best to bring it to the owner's attention, without making a scene. If I owned the place, I would SURELY want to know about this health issue. When we showed the owner the bug we corralled with a napkin, he said "it's just a fly--I'll have to tell them in the kitchen to keep the outside door closed". JUST a fly?? JUST the thing that spreads disease. And how did this guy handle it? He didn't take the remaining food back (assumming contamination). He didn't offer another dish. He didn't deduct ANYTHING from the bill. I'm aware of how difficult it is to keep a retail kitchen clean. But I think I'm more disgusted by how the owner handled this, than by the fly on the plate.

I had the recent adventure of trying the local eatery Mulligan. I thought that the place looked nice from the out side and it was in a nice location. As I come to find out by the time that I walked in the restaurant was themed in golf. They have picture of golf courses from all over Cleveland and parts of the country. The one truly nice thing that they do have is a non smoking side of the bar. I was unfortunately only told about it because it was closed and I wasnt able to partake in the fresh air as I would have hoped. Overall the place is nice but I did have a few problems. My order of food ended up being twice as much as it said on the menu. I ordered a basket of fries with cheese. It turns out because I ordered cheese I ended up ordering something that wasnt on the menu. It turns out that for what ever reason if you order things that arent on the menu people can charge what ever they want. This happened to me. If a restaurant has only hamburgers and you want cheese you dont expect to pay twice as much as it would cost to order a burger in order to get cheese. This concerns me, I dont know if this is an issue of the people working as waitresses trying to pull a fast one over the customers in order to make an extra buck or they just are dishonest. Id like to believe that this isnt true but to think that it would be restaurant policy would be to charge people like this is mockery of what good food and good restaurants everywhere stand for. I guess in closing the restaurant isnt bad. If you dont get charged an arm and a leg for food that you should get for a minimal additional price; it would be a great place. I think that it could be good but once again I think I would have to pass recommending it for people to goto on the basis of their inconsistent help. Especially after I ended up talking to them about these items that I was charged for that werent on the menu.

If you enjoy generous portions of Bar Food, Mulligan's is the place to go. Their burgers remind me of Frisbees, they are that big. The add ons like the onions, lettuce & tomatoes are like a side salad on top of the burger. Add some fries or onion rings and a complete meal will run you less than $10.00. They have a very large menu selection including wings, wraps, sandwiches, and salads. The service is very attentive, and friendly. They have two rooms, one is smoke free. The entire place is very nicely done with a golf theme and is like the grill of a private country club.
