Not Again

Came to meet friends for drinks. Why they wanted to meet here I have no idea. Very Dirty. Very Dark. Drinks were a good price. Didnt get the courage to order food. With a little lighting and a wet clotha nd a mop bucket this place might be a little more easy on the eye. Whats with the bathrooms?????

Cheap/Decent Food with a cocktail...

Yes, it's a bar, it's an old house turned into a restaurant/bar. It could use a coat of paint and some reno work. Had fun, it is a "nice" place. Food was ok. Salad fresh, baked potato perfect...the only thing, my steak was tough. I ended up spitting out at least half of it. The taste was good...just the meat wasn't great...but the cost was cheap! I'm not complaining! My friend loves it there and its her place close to home! Got to love the old neighborhood taverns! Just like Cleveland's Big Egg, it's not for the ill hearted! Just go enjoy...don't look too deeply into it!

In response to last post.

I am the "last cook" referred to in the most recent post. It was brought to my attention by a friend of mine. I am accused of "being more concerned with getting high with customers than with the food quality" First off, let me state that I neither confirm or deny that I "got high" with customers. Everyone that knows me, knows that I cared very deeply about food quality. But since Carrie called me out on a public domain for it, I thought I would add some of my own thoughts. Carrie smokes pot. Carrie smokes pot at work. Carrie smokes pot with customers. Carrie asked me to buy her pot on many occasions. Carrie asked me to get high with her at work on many occasions. Carrie is probably high right now. So basically, while I have nothing against Carrie, I cannot understand while she would publicly slam me like that. Especially when she is guilty of the very thing she accused me of doing. She will probably put up another post accusing me of drinking out of the milk carton when no one was looking or maybe that I microwaved a potato instead of baking it (which would be devastating to my culinary reputation.) Maybe Carrie's lack of skill creates a sense of need to make herself feel better about herself by putting down others. Which is where the pot-smoking comes in I would guess. It makes her feel better about herself. I confronted Carrie by phone and asked her if she posted this. Her reply was "Yes I did, haha!" and hung up on me. A very well-thought out response for her actually. If she cooks anywhere along the level of how she spells and uses punctuation I would suggest to the you, the customer, that you try an alternate dining experience that would be a better option, like AM PM at your local gas station. I think she actually uses that for her more inspired daily specials that sell so well. Good luck to you Carrie.....and put down that bong and get that potato out of the microwave!

We are trying to improve, so hang in there!!!

I am the new kitchen manager at A Nice Place. Yes, I agree with some of these posts, but also wanna let everyone know that we are in a transition. I have recently taken over the kitchen, as the guy who was in charge was more worried about getting high with the customers than his food quality. I however, not only take pride in my work, I also care if ppl are going to come back. K, the basement is kinda weird, but lucky for our customers, u dont eat down there!! The place was built in the sixties, and it is an old house, thats y it may smell weird from time to time, but I assure all, I clean, with alot of bleach, everyday!! The kitchen is also very clean, and I am running new specials and a new menu as the passing of Lent. Come in, ask for Carrie, and I promise a great meal at a great price. And are bartenders are the best looking around. We even have a gal who sports a bakini on Weds afternoons! Talk about a hot lunch!!!

Good value, bad smell

Drink are a good value and the food is better than what I would expect in a place like this. The bartender was very friendly and pretty prompt with service considering that she was clearly being irritated by some guy that was behind the bar in sweatpants following her around. He looked like the proverbial drunk owner that needs to stay out of the way. The problem was the smell. It smelled like a sewer in the back room and we had to move to the front. The pace was dirty and dusty and was decorated like a basement you hung out in when you were drinking with your buddies in high school - only dirtier. I dont live around there but if I lived next door I still wouldn't come back. One last note - Sending women into a dark basement to use the bathroom is not a good idea. My girlfriend had me go down with her. The basemnt was disgusting disgusting disgusting.

Its a bar!

If youre looking for atmosphere this aint it. If youre looking class, this aint it. If youre looking for a family experience, this certainly aint it! But, if youre looking for a decent joint to have a drink with local characters and attractive bartenders...this is DEFINITELY it!

The owner/manager is creeeeepy!!!!!!

The environment was dirty and dingy. The staff was ok but it was very apparent that the owner runs the place like it's his house not a place of business. I do not reccomend this to anyone! Maybe if you're a biker and want a place to congregate. The owner was drunk at the bar and saying inexcusable remarks to his employees. I feel sorry for them.

Pleasant Surprise....

Now that it is remodeled, this place really is a great place to catch a game. Neighboorhood bar, 6 or 7 flatscreens, really good food. The food actually was a step above regular bar fare. Pricing is great and like I said - right in my own backyard. Will definately come back. Try the onion rings!!!! Robin ROCKS!!!!!!

run away, far away!!

Talk about false advertising--this place is neither nice, nor a cafe. It's only a bar, with a VERY ROUGH male clientele base who feel free to use terrible language very loudly no matter who can hear. You will not want to go there if you are a woman--you will feel VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. It's dirty and cold inside, and the burger we ordered was inedible. Left as soon as we could get the bill without eating more than a couple of bites. Scary place--stay far away.
