Small, intimate, full of character without being gaudy - this place is instantly our new favorite place to eat. The service was OUTSTANDING - and my wife and her family have a restaurant curse on them all where they always receive poor service or poor food quality or at the very least a bill that is not correct. But this place broke all three categories of the curse.
The appetizer was akin to a sampler plate and got us very excited for the main course. I had the clams and my wife had the lamb chops. The portions weren't small, but they weren't gigantic, either - which is nice if you're the type that likes to eat what is in front of you, regardless of how stuffed you become.
We brought a bottle of wine and they charged 6 bucks corking fee. And the chocolate cheesecake desert was the PERFECT finish. This place was absolutely outstanding. The server was on the ball, too. His service made us feel as if we were the only people in the place. Right down to the music and the school-house chairs, this place was the best. Can't wait for the summer when the patio is open.
With the corking fee, the app, two dinners, desert and coffee, the bill was $80, plus tip. It was worth every penny.

I am obsessed with OPA! The dining room is sweetly designed with an exposed brick wall covered in candles and the lighting makes anyone look fantastic. The servers are smart and witty and efficient, and when asked give you the nitty gritty on what to order and what's the best. The menu changes seasonally and offers a wide range of tasty items and nothing is over $25. The server perfectly described the menu as an american classic with a greek infusion. And every meal most definatly be started with the flaming saganaki. It's just fun. The chef and the owner frequent the dining room bouncing from table to table only to hear nothing but good things about their creations. They don't have a liquor liscense which turned me off in the begining, but the server offered us a complimentary glass which turned into a complimentary bottle and now we bring in our own, which in the end offers up a huge discount on the bill and the pleasure of enjoying exactly the wine you love. It's trendy, sophistacated, intimate, and comfortable. I love it.

OPA! occupies half of West 25th Street's Gillespie building, a narrow, attractive space with walls and tin ceiling the color of a strawberry milkshake; the wooden banquettes are recycled sections of a bowling-alley floor. The owner, Athens native Dimitris Ragousis, opened this festive Greek spot in May of 2004 for lunch and Sunday brunch, and shortly afterward added dinner service. The menu is based on the favorites of his catering business of the same name: Trout filet arrives buttered and broiled, cucumber-onion salad is crisp and pastitsio features plenty of flavorful, finely ground sirloin in a cheesy tomato sauce. For dessert, try the lemon-lime tart, unusual in its crispy phyllo crust. Service is sweetly caring and professional.
