It Rivals San Diego Sushi!
I lived in San Diego from 2001 to 2006 and became addicted to sushi. Real authentic sushi. Only the freshest. When I moved to Cleveland in 06 I thought "What do I do now for my sushi fix"? Found it! Pacific East has the best I've had in Cleveland. Even their Uni and Toro as amazing. Nice prices, nice portions. Service is very serious a typical Japanese trait from a wait staff. I go back whenever I can.

Best sushi in Cleveland!
Dined here once, service was mediocre but the sushi was fantastic! Fresh, expertly prepared, so good, and CHEAP! The menu is extensive, encompasses a great sampling of Thai/Vietnamese cuisine - we only had the raw stuff and were VERY IMPRESSED!! Nice variety of saki. One of Cleveland's best bargains all in all.

Great Date Place
Pacific East is one of the best sushi places in Cleveland. Great atmosphere and a neat place for a first date! You can eat and then walk around the artistic area that is Coventry Road. Excellent and fresh sushi with a really quiet atmosphere. The menu is quite expansive offering even non-seafood lovers items.

Great Japanese
If you love sushi and sashimi, this restaurant is the best that I have tried in town. It is consistently fresh. The service has always been good although it sometimes takes a while for food to get to you if they are busy. I would encourage anyone to try them at lunch when they are not so busy and you can take advantage of their sushi/sashimi lunch special. I love their Spider Roll as well. Have your meal with some green tea. Miso and fresh salad included with most entrees.

Pacific East added a Malaysian menu
Pacific East, home to the finest sushi in NE Ohio, has recently added a Malaysian menu to its offerings. They hired a chef from NY and built an additional kitchen to accomodate the new menu.
This is the only Malaysian food offered in Ohio, according to the owner. Not very will known outside major urban areas, Malaysian food is becoming increasingly popular.
It certainly is fabulous! I've eaten off the new menu at least half a doen times and have loved just about everything I've tried. The Mee (noodle) dishes are superb, with fresh seafood, or pork, or chicken. Also lovely are currys, satays, soups, and potato dishes. malaysian is a fusion of Indian, Thai, French, and Southeast Asian and boy, is it terrific!
Highly recommended, along with the superb sushi and Japanese food.

Situated on the busy corner of Mayfield and Coventry, Pacific East Japanese Restaurant offers a windowed oasis from which to watch the commotion of life. The walls are painted a tranquil blue; soft music plays, and the waitstaff speak quietly, never wishing to interrupt conversation. The best seats in the house are at the sushi bar, where the chef prepares orders served either ê la carte or as part of an East Bento Box Special (with soup, salad, appetizers of the day, California rolls, fruit and rice). Try the rainbow roll (crab stick, cucumber and avocado topped with assorted fish and roe) or the simple but delicious spicy tuna roll. There are also noodles, rice bowls, soups and salads, as well as appetizers such as edamame (steamed soy beans) and gyoza (stuffed fried dumplings).

Best Sushi Around
If you want the FRESHEST sushi between here and California - seriously - you can't go wrong with this awesome restaurant. I don't know where he gets his fish, but it is far far better than anything else in Cleveland, even better than the best in Chicago, and as good as Vegas, but cheaper. Take it from a sushi snob, this place is awesome.
