The Borders plaza and much of Strongsville grew up around Palmer's, which has held court in its strip-mall location for nearly three decades. New owner Adam Godec spent nearly half of last year gutting and renovating the space, and his efforts have yielded a snazzy bar area, and a smart and sunny yellow dining room. Comparable effort also went into the menu. Anything grilled here will be a hit: A flavorful rib-eye comes enhanced by a dry spice rub and garlic-laced chef's butter, served sizzling on a cast-iron plate. And, while seared and well-seasoned beef makes up the backbone of the menu, don't neglect to inquire about fish and seafood specials, such as grilled scallops with jasmine rice and chipotle cream sauce, and pepper-crusted rare tuna with vegetables and soba noodles in a honey-soy sauce. Another solid plus here is the impeccably polished and professional service; this is casual fine dining done right in a southwestern suburb.
