WE WENT THERE ON VALENTINE'S DAY, THE SPECIAL WAS UNBELIEVABLE, LOBSTER BISQUE SOUP, JERKED SHRIMP SKEWERS, SPECIAL MIXED GREEN SALAD WITH A HOMEMADE GINGER VINAGRETTE AND THE MAIN COURSE MISO ALSAKIAN COD WITH LOBSTER POTATO CAKES IN A ROASTED TOMATO CHAMPAGNE SAUCE WAS TO DIE FOR AND THERE FINALE A PASSION FRUIT CHEESE CAKE WITH RASPBERRY SAUCE, BETTER THEN CHOCOLATE. THEY EVEN GAVE YOU A SPECIAL COCKTAIL, STRWABERRY KISS WHICH WAS JUST RIGHT FOR THE OCCASSION!(THE PRICE FOR THE ENTIRE 5 COURSE WAS $50.00 PER PERSON AND WOULD HAVE PAID ANYWHERE ESLE MUCH MORE!) THE SERVICE WAS GREAT, THE STAFF ARE FAMILY MEMBERS AND THEY ARE VERY PLEASANT AND MAKE YOU FEEL AS IF YOU WERE AT HOME, THE MUSIC WAS SOFT AND SET THE MOOD. WE HAVE BEEN THEIR SEVERAL TIMES AND WILL KEEP RETURNING FOR DAVID ALWAYS SURPRIZES US WITH HIS SPECAILS AND HIS TALENT.

This tiny restaurant, nestled inside a Cedar Road strip plaza, defines the word ""unassuming."" Decorated with travel posters that have seen better days (namely, the '80s), Rachel's is a casual but charming neighborhood favorite that offers delicious food with a bit of island flair. Soups, salads and appetizers, including Caribbean seafood chowder, conch fritters and island style buffalo wings, are all available to start your meal. Entrees - try grilled salmon with sauteed vegetables, served over garlic mashed potatoes in a lobster cream sauce, or halibut with mango salsa - are generously sized and bursting with flavor. Jerk chicken, thoroughly marinated, juicy and tender, is served next to a mountain of rice and beans over mellow fried plantains. Ribs, strip steak, shrimp and pasta round out a colorful menu. Each entree is accompanied by Jamaican honey biscuits; humble bread has never tasted so sweet and good.

Tucked away in a small shopping strip, Rachel's offers luscious and enticing food, in a comfortably warm, casual and intimate (read: "small") setting. There is a good variety of flavorful Caribbean-based dishes, reasonably priced. Whatever else you do, try the garlic mashed potatoes. We found it quiet enough to talk over dinner, but noisy enough that we did not feel out of place laughing out loud. Service is generally good, though occasionally not quite as quick as one might like. We've been back several times, and always decide we want to come back again. And again.
