I don't know what that other reviewer's problem is.
My wife and I live up the street and eat at Richie Chan's pretty regularly. We love it. The price is great (we can both get an entree and an app to split for under 20$) and Mr. and Mrs. Chan are always friendly. The food is delicious and authentic,if the local exchange students are any indicator. I can't recommend it enough.

Almost worst Chinese in America!
We have lived in 26 cities over the past 28 years and the only food of lower quality was in downtown Los Angeles when I was 23 and out of money; they served dog as the meat. Low quality meat(you can smell the cheapness). The Sweet/Sour sauce would rate a B; the vegetables a C-. This is definitely representative of the poor that live in China's countryside...starving. Lady serving was fairly cordial but couldn't understand our needing extra napkins. Overall...you can have this place, we will never go there again. Sorry that the owners can't do better(for their own good). Both tables were sticky and not cleaned up from prior guests. Nothing really good at all about this place; poor people with no taste should go there. I gave them 2's out of sympathy for their efforts, not results.

Best in town
Have been to Richie Chan since studying at case. They have hands-down the best Chinese food in cleveland, inexpensive, and most importantly, authentic and fresh. Store decor (if any?) is not ideal but if you want authentic great food you gotta give a try.

Great Cheap Eats
In college I always was craving cheap fast Chinese take out and was worried once I arrived in Cleveland Heights my cravings would not be satisfied. This all came to pass after discovering Richie Chan's Chinese takeout. It fulfills and goes beyond meeting all my requirements. Requirement #1 it's fast and centrally located, #2 Its cheap ($5 lunch special General Tso, delicious), #3 focus on food (fried rice is not the fake yellow stuff you get everywhere else). Bottom line it is a great place to grab a meal if you are not looking for anything fancy. I recommend it over any other Chinese takeout place in the area

Best dive in town
While Richie Chan's is not the most elegant stop of the Lee Rd. dinning experience, It is one of the most traditional. The husband and wife team of 15 plus years keep their culinary traditions alive in a gritty environment that focuses on what is TRULY important: Great, cheap, Chinese cuisine.
The prices are set perfectly for a budget night. Be sure to stop in and order; Watching Mr. Chan flip silver steel lids, toss fresh yellow, red, green veggies and dump brown dripping sauce in the perfect order for your meal is half the enjoyment. I always say "You know it a great place to eat when the culture it's from is around the table eating."
Try: Kung Po beef, medium spicy with extra rice (feeds 2 or just lunch leftovers)
