"Wow" is all I can say!
My husband and I ate at Salmon Dave's last night for our 2 year anniversary. Everything from the service to the food was excellent. Our server was very knowledgeable about the food and wine and recommended a wonderful Riesling to go with my dinner. My husband had the Tenderloin Oscar and I had the special of lobster tail, scallops, and lobster potato croquettes. We could not believe how good the food was--one of our best seafood dinners since we were in Key West for our wedding. To our surprise our server brought us a dessert to share of crème brulee spoons, sorbet, and a flourless chocolate cake that was to die for! After the wonderful entree we didn't think it could much better but it did. We both must have said "wow" at least 5 times on the way home. I will definitely be back to this restaurant many more times.

Sauces cover inferior quality
Tried a piece of their Wild King Salmon with no sauce. Fish tasted like it had been previously frozen. A friend dining with me had surf and turf. 29 dollar price seemed nice but steak was someting like a top sirloin. Was not impressed with food. Bar food is probably what you need to order

A great comeback!
My husband and I have eaten here several times this year. I wanted to leave a review because, like some of the other diners below, we felt the restaurant had taken a turn for the worse. After avoiding Salmon Dave's for a couple of years, we decided to give them another try. We were very pleased!!! The menu is excellent and the food quality has improved immensely. I love the lobster bisque, lobster mashed potatoes, and shrimp and scallops.

best crab cakes
The crab cake sandwich is excellent, the side slaw like none other. A little dark inside and I wish there was shrimp on the lunch menu, that's what I had hoped to order, but none to be found. all-in-all a great lunch

Great meal!!!
We visited Salmon Dave's for the first time last night to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. The food & wine were excellent. We started with the appetizer tower, the scallops, calamari, and mussels were all pefectly prepared. I had the crab leg & crab cake feast. The crab legs were amazing but the crab cake was nothing special. My wife had the surf & turf, the steak was cooked to perfection (medium rare) and the lobster tail in cream sauce was delicious! We had both the lobster & garlic mashed potatoes, I highly recommend the lobster, but both were very good. We also received a free order of creme brulee (with fresh fruit) for our anniversary.
Our only complaint was with the service. While it was very friendly and attentive most of the time, there were some major goofs. My soup arrived at the same time as my dinner, we were over charged for our bottle of wine & my entree, & we had to grab one of the bus boys and ask for some bread after we'd been there 30 minutes.
Despite these things we had a fine meal and will definitely return!

It used to be good...
Whatever happened to the good food and service at Salmon Dave's? The menu got trimmed to next to nothing and the food is dry (and often cold.) Service? So so. Atmosphere? Reduced to a pick-up place look with the usual suspects drinking enough not to care about the reduced quality. We've tried several times to like it again. Three stikes. A shame.

Yuck & Dry
My friend and I went here to try out a coupon (since we had never been here before). The food was overpriced for the portion they gave (skimpy), and although the taste was just "okay", both our meals were overdone and on the dry side. Definitely not worth the money and I would not go there again. Service was very friendly though, and atmosphere was interesting.

Lobter bisque not worth walking around the corner for
My husband and I went to Salmon Dave's in the early afternoon to dine before the Valentine's day dinner crowd arrived. The hostess was nowhere to be seen. When she finally materialized from wherever she had gone outside, she was unfriendly and did not smile. We felt like we were inconveniencing her. My husband tried to joke with her and she snorted at him without a word. She seated us at a small booth in what was supposed to be the non smoking section. We could still smell smoke. When I noted that there were no other patrons in the entire restaurant and asked to sit at a larger table, she said "of course" in a snotty tone. I told my husband if the server had the same attitude, we would leave. Thankfully, she was pleasant.
We ordered the "famous" lobster bisque and chicken vegetable soup. The chicken vegetable soup was exceptionally salty. I asked the server if she would please replace it with a cup of the bisque. She did. I'm not sure why people think Salmon Dave's bisque is so good. I think it tastes extremely average. It is a bath of overpriced beige colored cream with exactly two shreds of lobster meat. MUCH better bisque can be had at other (friendlier) restaurants such as Pier W in Lakewood and Nemo Grille in Avon.
My husband ordered the crab cake appetizer, I ordered the lobster linguine. The crab cake was served on a bed of sweet asian glop with a couple greasy, crunchy strands of rice noodles as a garnish. The lobster linguine arrived looking like it had sat under a heat lamp for 20 minutes. It actually looked wilted. I did not finish it and am glad, because a few hours later I started to feel queasy.
This had been my first (and only) meal that entire day. Needless to say, I started feeling worse as the evening wore on and had diarrhea all night. Thank goodness there are other places to eat in this neighborhood where you won't have "to pay" with a night on the commode. Stino Da Napoli, Max's and Pearl of the Orient are a few other close choices that won't ruin your evening.

Lobster Bisque worth 1050 miles of travel time!
Last month I flew up from Louisiana to attend my brothers wedding. I called ahead to Salmon Daves and told them I wanted something special. I mentioned I was flying in from Louisiana and this was my brother’s rehearsal dinner. I asked for a nice quiet area but they did say they were having a special and they could not guarantee about the noise level. I told them I appreciated them letting me know, however since I had eaten there before I knew the food was worth it despite some noise. We were greeted at the appointed time and I have to tell you, you were EXCELLENT. The greeter remembered me calling from Louisiana and she also remembered about the wedding. (now THAT’S customer service)
My main goal at the restaurant was to have their Lobster Bisque. This is stuff FANTASIES are made of. I convinced everyone in the party to try it. They were ALL speechless. They did agree with me. Well, between the several bottles of wine and the rest of the exceptional food we had a grand time.
I have to tell you at the end of dinner we were stuffed, BUT I had requested some type of dessert for the special occasion. To my surprise they sent out a HUGE dessert plate with 4 forks. We all enjoyed sharing the various desserts.
I will continue to recommend this place to everyone I meet.
My only regret is not being able to figure out the Lobster Bisque recipe, 1050 miles is just a little to far to commute for EXCELLENT food...then again when I am in Cleveland it IS a MANDATORY stop.

West Side mainstay Salmon Dave's Pacific Grille has been serving fresh seafood on the banks of the Rocky River for a decade now, and the flow of patrons - who chatter happily at the white-linen tables set underneath exposed brick archways - promise many years of success to come. As its name implies, the restaurant's specialty is salmon (tapenade-crusted, fire-grilled with a ginger-soy marinade or oven-roasted on a cedar plank), though salads, steaks and other fish dishes are available as well. The influence here is decidedly Asian, with won ton soup, ahi sashimi platters and Vietnamese beef pho dotting the menu; however, there are also seafood tacos, twin lobster tails and the blackened blue New York strip. The wine list has earned recognition from Wine Spectator, and specialty martinis, such as the caramel apple, serve as an adult way to end the meal.

Salmon Daves' ear shattering experience
My wife and I have been guests of Salmon Dave's many times. The food is very good, to excellent at all times, but when we leave the restaraunt, we are not at all relaxed, in fact we are stressed because of the extreme noise. The walls are undraped and the floors are hardwood. The echoing noise of loud convesations and laughter is very hard to tolerate. I very seldom can hear the server.
Thanks for listening.
