A Riot
This place is a hoot! The food is very good and plentiful, the atmosphere old, ethnic and quaint. From the surely waitresses to the charming hostess this place has all the old-world charm plus polka bands on the weekends!
We have come here with my parents over the years and now enjoy coming with friends for family style meals, noise and fun.

I ABSOLUTELY Love This Place!
If you are looking for a trendy, upscale decor, LED lit restaurant, stop now. This isn't the place for you. If you are looking for a dinner at Grammy's, C'mon in! Zdravo! Dobrodošli! (Hello! Welcome!)
We were welcomed by a hostess that was the spitting image of my Aunt Alice. She fussed over us as we waited for a table. Another server seated us, presented menus, and told us our server's name (I forgot it - sorry).
We ordered a family dinner. Within seconds - and I mean SECONDS, a server came over and plopped down bowls of homemade chicken noodle soup, followed closely by a small tossed salad. Good, homemade soup; average pre-made salad.
OK - we ate the soup and salad and had a few minutes to relax. looking around the restaurant, it is a trip back to the old world. Hand painted murals on the walls, mountain landscape vistas, post and beam room structure. The bar is over in the side of the room - almost like "Baba" wants to keep the men from drinking too much.
The food came, and it was marvelous. Big portions, very tasty weinerschnitzel with a feather light breading. No invisible staff here - servers were constantly at the tables, and bus staff were pushing carts and clearing tables all around us. I had a wonderful meal, and I wanted to curl up on Grammy's couch and take a nap, but an accordian player with all the electronic orchestra gizmos started playing, and made the experience even deeper. I half expected Paul Wilcox to come on stage and intoduce Frankie Yankovic (sorry if you're not old enough to remember "Polka Varieties" on WEWS at 1:00 on Sundays. Autographed photos of celebrity musicians who have played there are on display).
This is a rare and hard to find truely family style restaurant. The food was wonderful. The staff was efficient and accomodating. You simply can not find places like this anymore. Visit this place like you were going back in time to a wonderful place where families were the most important things in our lives, and dinner together was the high point of our day.
P.S. I went back and had the Chicken Paprikash. It was just like Grammy's - even found a bone in it!

Even though it's located on Cleveland's East 55th Street, Frank Sterle's Slovenian Country house serves up its fare in a classic mountain lodge that makes guests feel as if they are dining in the Alps. Painted wall murals of the countryside, servers dressed in Eastern European clothing and the traditional Slovenian music played on Friday and Saturday nights make this country house well worth a visit. Hearty dinner choices include classics such as Wiener schnitzel or roast pork, and the generous potions can be eaten family-style with sauerkraut and strudel. Slovenian-style liver Jeterca with onions is also highly recommended. The lunch menu features daily specials from veal goulash to chicken paprikash, and also offers family-style dining and ample meeting facilities.
