Re: Poor Spelling

The only idiotic person here is the individual trying to insult others intelligences. Before you attempt to correct others spelling, you should learn some basic grammer rules you imbosol. Or should've I used the word imbecile? Yep, it sure does make you look even STUPIDERERERERERERERERERERER. Food was great and service was well. Kudos to them.

A little too late

Ive been to Steve's Dakota many times. First of all, I do want to say the food is absolutely amazing. My salmon was awesome!! However, we had a party of 8. My sister called ahead and was told our table would be ready in 45 min. We arrived at the restaurant 45 min. later only to be told that our table was not ready quite yet. That was fine. When I went back to the hostess to ask what the status of our table was, the hostess told me that the other party is about to leave and our table will be ready in a few minutes. I perseded to go over to the section where the hostess said our table would be and noone was leaving. The party was still eating their dinner. So, that meant the hostess lied. To make a long story short, we waited a total of 45 min. before we were seated. It is unnacceptable!! When someone makes a reservation in advance, a table or some type of arrangement should be made to accommodate all patrons.

Poor Spelling

Yep, I am going to pick on you people giving reviews. Can I just mention that all of your misspelled words do not lend one ounce of credibility to your review? It makes you sound as if you are idiotic and your point is completely lost. We have never had a bad meal or terrible service. Yes, the place is busy. You can expect that with hour waits to be seated, there will be a wait for your food. Relax. If you are in a hurry, choose a restaurant that is not busy. As for rudeness by staff, I have noticed that if you are rude and off-putting, you will put staff members on the defensive, and they are not likely to want to help you. Be nice. And as for staff forgetting to give you coffee, or flatware, a gentle reminder is appropriate. Are you absolutely perfect at everything you do at work??? The Food is always great, the service is usually great, but there are blips. Not enough for a reasonable person to quit going!

Our favorite place to eat, hands down!

My husband and I love to eat at Steve's! We go there for every birthday, valentine's day, special occasion because it is always a wonderful experience. We have learned to go early because they don't take reservations. That's probably the one thing we would change. The last time we went, my husband pondered getting something other than Prime Rib, but I asked him why, when eating the prime rib is like having tiny bits of heaven? I'm surprised at some of the negative reviews. We have never had a bad experience and recommend Steve's to everyone we know!

RUSHED THROUGH OUR MEAL

Upon halfway through eating our salads, our entrees were delivered to our table. The meals sat there for about ten minutes getting cold while we finished our salads. All the food was good except the mashed potatoes. They tasted to buttery. We'll try another restaurant next time.

They are busy because they are that good . Scott is one the best bartenders in this part of the county. If you can be patient it is worth the wait for the salads, the breads the steak or the fish.

Fish Lover

Just happen to spot some comments from others that have been here. I wanted to say my 2 cents. I eat seafood pretty much every meal. I could drive to Cleveland and pay some serious money at those downtown places, but why? This restaurant offers daliy fresh fish. Try the Walleye, or Salmon. This weekend they offered Pan Roasted Halibut. They had Fresh Maine Lobster, too. They have shrimp prepared three different ways, King Crab Legs, , Fresh Scallops (Big Ones) not those pencil erasers like at red lobster. The list goes on and on. Pretty much my favorite place to "dine out". Being an educated consumer, I have to add, when a place, very common, too, has things at Market Price, it is up to the consumer to ask what that price may be, not the other way around! But I have to add, if you are ordering a delicasy like crab or lobster, and have to ask the price...you probably can not afford it anyhow. Try Bob Evans!!!

Pricing is quite "Fishy"

Went (accidentally) to Steve's on Sweetest Day. They ran a "Special" which was a surf and turf. They charged $56.99! Not only was the lobster tough and lacking in flavor, but you could get the whole lobster for $15.99. When I talked to the manager about this, I simply said they should let the waitresses divulge the all-so-secret market price. The manager said their policy is to let the customers ask. You know that you pay more for "fresh" seafood- especially lobster, but we are not in Maine or anywhere near an ocean, so $31 for a small (tough) lobster tail is a bit of a suprise. The manager came off arogant and rude. I would have been fine if he would have just said they would be more forthright with pricing and let the customer decide if the meal is worth the "market price" of the day. Anytime I have gone to a restaurant, they divulge the price of the special. We will not be returning to this restaurant simply due to the managers handling of this situation.

Don't waste your time or money

My father requested this restaurant as a place to celebrate his 80th birthday. We will not return. They don't take reservations and although we were the first customers to arrive when they opened, the owner rudely refused to seat our party of 9 adults at the same table. Our waitress Kathy seemed to be annoyed with us and wasn't even a little bit personable. Our appetizer plates were still cluttering the table when our meals were served. I ordered a Ribeye steak and was served a strip steak. When I pointed this out, she told me "it IS a Ribeye, just cut from the end of the (loin); it just LOOKS like a strip steak". It was a tough strip steak, period. At the end of the meal she dropped a stack of styrofoam containers in the middle of the table for left-overs. We may as well have been at a chain steakhouse. We were told each order of cake will serve 4-5 people, which it did, but she plopped it on the table without providing a utensil to cut and serve it. Our coffee came about midway through the cake and we had to ask if coffee was available. Had a gratuity not been included on the bill, I would have reflected our dissatisfaction with the meal. For my father's sake we did not complain at the time, but beginning with them refusing to seat us together, I doubt it would have mattered. SL

Excellant choice

My husband ordered the bigger prime rib, a caesar salad, and garlic smashed potatoes. I ordered the middle sized prime rib, a house salad, and a baked potatoe with butter and sour cream. We shared the crab stuffed mushrooms. We both had diet cokes. We spent $70.01. The food was excellant. The waitress was nice. Her name was Elaina.the atmosphere was perfect. It was the first time there, but definately will not be the last. It is what we were looking for.

OWNER IS HORRIBLY RUDE 2 PREGNANT GIRLFRIEND!!!!!

Me, my girlfriend and two friends arrive at steves dakota at 8pm. Party of four. We are told that it will be an hour wait. After spending plenty of money at the bar [excluding my pregnant girlfriend...8 months] we were finally seated at 9:20pm. We orderd an appetizer, scarfed it down and we were still waiting to order food at 9:45pm. Twenty-five minutes to order food after waiting an hour and twenty minutes. Is this a joke? Sounds like you need Chef Ramsey to me! My girlfriend [eating very little at 8 months prego] orders the kids fish and chips. The owner comes to the table [TOTALLY DISRESPECTFUL, carries himself as if he hates life] and says HE has a strict policy on kids meals. He even pulls aside an employee who has a wife who is 8 months pregnant and says "doesnt your wife eat a lot being pregnant?" I said "I dont care about how much his wife eats, my girlfriend doesnt eat that much". What ever happened to hospitality???? Your sure not gonna find it at Steves Dakota! The owner even told me to buy the restaurant and then I could run it the way I wanted! How rude is this guy? I really wish people wouldnt support this guy anymore! There are plenty of restaurants out there who will treat you like family everytime you walk in the door. They value the importance of a customer. STEVES DAKOTA DOES NOT......

Best Steak House in the area

I have dined several times there and have had very good food. They do not take reservations though. The steaks ($16) and ribs are my favorite; the prime rib is great too.($16). Beware of ordering a "special of the day appetizer" they usually end up being VERY expensive.(Can be almost as expensive as a meal). Bottled beer is a good price as well; like $2.50. I will drive the 40 minutes to eat there anytime. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting.

Had not gone here in several years and it has gone down hill. Atmoshphere is fine seems upscale but does not correlate with food. Overall menu seemed overpriced for the food recieved. Not likely to go back

I went to Steve's because a coworker said it was such a good place, so I decided to give it a try. The first time I went, the food was average, but the bill was upscale, so I thought maybe it was just a bad day. I decided to go again about a month later, and this time the food was worse. I asked to speak to the kitchen mgr and when I expressed my concern, he told me if I was unhappy I should go elsewhere. He was very rude and could care less about what I had to say. I will NEVER go back and hope they close due to lack of customers.

Very BAD experience

We had a party of 8 celebrating our daughter's birthday and her beating cancer. The waitress had an attitude from the beginning. Tried to hurry us along. We wanted to have our drinks and appetizers leisurely then order dinner. We asked for some rolls and was told they are served with the salads. We went to the manager and requested a different waitress and was told we would get one but the same one kept coming. This was a Tuesday evening at 5:30 and the place was practically empty. We went to the manager again and he said he didn't have anyone else to wait on us and the other waitresses said we were being taken care of. Our waitress set a hot appetizer down in front of a 2 yr old and said be careful the plate is hot. We left after we finished our appetizers. The bill was $75 for drinks ( one bottle of wine and one martini) and 3 appetizers. If we had stayed, our bill would have been at least $300. They just did not care. We will never go back and will spread the word of the poor service and bad attitude.

a few experiences have left me to realize that depending on what you order and what day you come you could totally have a different experience than the next person, some days are good and some are bad, I'd rather not take the gamble at such a pricey place. Staff seems a little robotic and rehearsed not personable and no one had a genuine smile! They want you to hurry up and let someone else sit down. Too long of a wait, too cramped too crowded and too loud.

Want Drink Special? Just Wait...and wait

Met friends from Mansfield here for dinner. First...and no doubt last time for us. One of the drink specials sounded good so one was ordered. Waters came, three of the drinks came w/ a mention by the server that the special was coming...Salads were served and we're thinking this must be some very special drink!! Server finally fessed up that they had to run out and buy more vodka??? Seriously, why wouldn't you tell the servers to quit selling the special if you were out of it? So, after she assured us that the very special drink was coming, I suggested they might ought to comp it as it'd been 25 minutes. When she said she couldn't do that, I asked to see the manager...Johnny is his name. After some kind of babble, Johnny said, with the server standing there, "It wasnt me who made you wait". You gotta be kidding me. Oh...the couple sitting next to our booth also asked to see the manager when his crab legs were undercooked. Couldn't hear what Johnny told them. First and last time to this joint and we do eat out frequently.

No Doubt THE BEST STEAK HOUS IN NE OHIO

To all who give inaccurate reviews for this Restaurant, if you have a bad experience here and did not mention it to the owner, it's your fault, not the restaurant! This place has been a favorite of ours for years and have been treated accordingly from the owners and staff. The food is wonderful and the staff is as well. Sure, the back room gets a little warm with alot, ALOT of people coming and going - so just say something and Ron will turn the air up for you. If you're looking for a great steak and wonderful atmosphere this place is a must. And if it does not go well please say something instead of writing crap reviews. This discredits the restaurant and makes potential new customers steer away when they read them.

PRIME RIB PRIME RIB PRIME RIB !!!!!!!

I have enjoyed eating here numerous times, mostly good experiences but a few dissappointments on food being cooked properly(steaks). The prime rib is my favorite and has been for years. I have ordered it for a few holidays for my family(full rib approx 12-15lbs) and it has always been a hit at the table. As far as the owner goes, he has ALWAYS taken care of my daughters and I on EVERY occasion that I have dined there and would come to the table and converse with us as if we were friends. Growing up in the restaurant business myself I understand the problems that can arise time to time and accept the fact that things happen, but my good experiences here outweigh any kitchen mishaps(undercooking/overcooking). I will continue to patronize Steve's Dakota Grill and if you haven't yet, you should.

Maybe the BEST in Ohio!

My family dines out 3-4 times per week. Due to a hectic schedule and the fact that we believe it is less expensive to dine out. Let me clarify that...the value of what you get for the money, plus what it would cost to duplicate at home. I LOVE this Medina Landmark Restaurant. The staff is always friendly and courteous. The drinks are Monsters and priced low in comparison to other fine restaurants. The Steaks I understand are cut right there and are amazing for the size and price. I could not buy any steak like the ones they offer at the grocery for any price! Plus, all their dinners come with a salad choice, two sides, and fresh baked rolls, too. Nobody offers fresher seafood selections in the area either. I have to mention, they do in fact have The Best Prime Rib anywhere, and as for BBQ< Best ribs I have found. I order them as an appetizer for the family! Almost everytime we decide to go out for dinner, either my wife or the kids say Steves Dakota Grill. They never get an argument out of me!

Waste of a Drive!

I drove 20 miles from Cleveland to get there! Was not impressed. The food was average. I ordered Steak Masala, the sauce was like gravey from salisbury steak. I've had great Chicken Marsala from John Q's downtown Cleveland. Our waitress, Kathy was pushy, impatient and rude. It is one thing to be helpful, but we felt we had to inhale our salads, she was at the table every 2 minutes, not exaggerating! Then, a person in our party made a comment about it being warm in there, our watiress Kathy says.."Yeah, I'm going through that time now also with the hot flashes!" How rude is that!!! So..I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. Maybe the people in Medina love it soo much because they dont come out of the "bubble" much and dont know any better, but as for me, I'll stay to places I know are great!

Best Place to Bring Your appetite!

I like to eat. By looking at me, you would not guess that. When we dine out, I always try the local spots. I do not do "hyped up" chain restaurants. I support the people that live right here. The Best I have found is the Steve's Dakota Grill in Medina. They are locally owned and operated, and deliver the biggest bang for the buck! They have a great lodge atmosphere, very clean, great staff and friendly service. The menu is a home run. There is something for everyone: a child's menu, fresh cut steaks, fresh seafood, nice pasta offerings, huge salads, THE BEST PRIME RIB ANYWHERE,and over the top desserts! The best part is the prices are very reasonable for what you get. Portions are large, everything is made to order and it is all fresh. Even the bar prices are way below what others charge. My family never walks out of Steve's hungry or broke! I do recommend to try them on the weekdays, because Friday and Saturdays are a busy.

We went to Steve's Dakota last year for my birthday last July and now it is our favorite restaurant around.
