June 03, 2005        The newly opened Bistro - located in a building that once housed a long-running Italian joint - offers a private escape from the average Kent dining experience. Start off with an exotic martini or a glass of wine, and relax in the simple elegance of the dining room: Dimly lit candles adorn the walls, providing an enchantingly romantic ambiance. The fresh bruschetta can suffice as an appetizer, but diners shouldn't overlook starters such as ginger-drizzled crab cakes or the succulent spiced shrimp. Entrees range from the pan-roasted chicken breast with tomato-herb essence served with garlic mashed potatoes, to the wonderfully spiced spring vegetable pasta to the blue cheese-encrusted New York strip steak. And then there's dessert: Try the frozen mudslide pie sprinkled with chocolate-covered coffee beans, or the sorbet trio of blueberry, peach and black cherry served with homemade snickerdoodle.
