Great food!! Sushi Rocks!!

Sushi rocks!! Every time I come to Cleveland I make a reservation for a Wednesday night! Great sushi and great - friendly service!! They have a roasted chicken on the dinner menu that is to die for!! Anyone that is disgusted by watching people eat raw fish shouldn't go to a place with sushi in the name!!! You should try it though!

Sushi Sucks

I just ate at Sushi Rocks for lunch for the first time. I've gone to happy hour there a few times over the years and my company even had its holiday party there in 2004. I enjoy the food, but I've always encountered waiters and waitresses that are not well trained and have a bad attitudes. You'd think a restaurant that is going to charge prices like they do would hire and train their staff to be pleasant, attentive and knowledgeable. I don’t think I’ll ever go there again.

East side location rocks

Maybe everyone that has had a bad experience should try the East side location on Wed. nights. Sit at the bar if worried about service! Pam bartends that night and is just amazingly friendly and always gives great quick service. They have a great happy hour that night with 1/2 off food and $4 martinis that I normally pay over $10 for! It's still busy, lots of guys (and gals) coming to hang out/laugh/enjoy drinks with Pam...and to get some great food!

Bad food - Bad service!

I had lunch today at Sushi Rock restaurant (Cleveland location) And I must say it was terrible! First I ordered the lobster ravioli, only to be told that you were out of it! They only offer three entrees on the lunch menu and they are out of one of them! So I ordered lobster bisque soup and it arrived cold & salty! At no time did the waiter ask how my soup was, even when he took it away and the entire bowl was full! I was never offered sparkling water like heard other patrons being offered- I guess I did not look good enough to ask. Waiter was rude. Lobster cigars were like something out of the freezer. Small portions and all around bad! It was special day for my friend and I and was truly disappointed. I would not recommend this place at all, there are plenty of better places in downtown Cleveland!

Tsunami Wednesday Catastrophe

Wednesday is the day to dine at Sushi Rock. Sushi is 1/2 off! I would get 18 pieces of sushi for $7. Incredible deal. And I love the sushi. Be sure to get reservations! Few days in advance. It's packed! At the start of the summer, I was dining there with friends every Wednesday. Loved it. NO screaming kids. If you have kids, don't bother coming. Surprisingly good looking crowd for Cleveland. But it started to get worse and worse every week. Service was slower. We were there 2 hours one time. Sushi remained good but not the same. Can't describe it. This was early August '07. I just dined there for lunch 3 months later and the service was great. Sushi still good. Hopefully the service was a temporary end of summer issue. Who knows. Also, the interior decorating needs updated. A poor attempt to create an upscale downtown NYC restaurant. Sponge painted walls. Cheap furniture. If you've been and think it's classy, wow. Bottom line, a great place to eat.

Spotty

The first time I went here, I loved it. Great atmosphere, pretty people, FABULOUS (gay, not good with the service) wait staff. All the trendy cliches. The sushi was nice, fresh, and the servings were large. Prices are a little steep but not more than expected for the warehouse district. And for the person who expected a highchair, really, that's not what the warehouse district is for. The second, third, and fourth times I dined here I had similar experiences. Good food, iffy service, fun atmosphere. By the way, the martinis are fantastic, lots of fun, summery drinks (try the grape martini). The last two times I dined here, the portions shrunk (a big roll is no longer so big, it's a medium roll at best now) and some of the items smelled fishy (ew). So, now there's another restaurant to which I probably will not return.

Sushi Rock rocks!!!

This place is great; and I only speak of the one downtown, since I have not gone to the one in Beachwood. However, my three years of dinner and bar experiences here are only the best!!! The sushi big rolls are excellent and I have not found any to replace them. The p.m. staff is great and everything about this place explodes GREATNESS!!!! I am hoping they will open one in San Diego!

GET A CLUE ITS 2007

I thought it would be nice to take my wife and 12 month old out to lunch, so playing it cool with the child I figured 2pm would be after lunch rush. Walked in the door and the host said 3, I said yes and she walked us to a table, she started to walk away and I asked if we could get a high chair. She looked at me and said (WE DONT HAVE HIGH CHAIRS, THIS IS A UP SCALE RESTAURANT). SO WE LEFT AND WENT TO BLUE POINT GRILLE AND THEY MADE THING PERFECT. AND WE SPENT LESS MONEY.

Great time again

As always when I stop into Sushi Rock (either location) I ordered the Calamari, eda mame, then onto my sushi order: Eel maki, tuna sushi, white tuna sushi, spider roll. I read all these reviews about bad service..I havent experienced that yet. Always a smile to greet me at the door and table. Great time again

Come in regular

I thought I would comment on the nice experience I had at Sushi Rock. I go on here and read reviews and it never seems to be anything really that good about any place so I thought I would break the trend. I go to both locations and they both have their differences. I love the food! The calamari is to die for. Atmosphere at each place is a little different. Downtown is more of the "going out" kinda feel due to location. Beachwood is more of the family feel that I look for on the weekdays. I always have above average service at each location and I must note Im not the type that expects servers to spoon feed me. Thank you Sushi rock

Who do they think they are?

Horrific service. Waitstaff was hateful and rarely checked on the table to see if we needed anything. I hate to say it, but they need to remember that they are waiters at a sushi bar in CLEVELAND, for God's sake. It's a shame because the food was very good and fresh. The owners need to clean house of the pretty people they've hired and replace them with servers that actually act like they care about the people paying their bills.

Frequent Visitors -- Always a Great Time!

We have always been extremely satisfied with the food, specifically the sushi, and the bar service. Sit upstairs if possible. Favorites:Calamari Appetizer, Spicy California, Sushi Rock Big Roll. Service is VERY lacking. Be prepared to raise your glass in the air when you are ready for a refill. Ask your waiter to stop back every 10 minutes in this case-a pain. WILL RETURN! : )

Not a fan of the service.

The crowd, atmosphere and wait staff all very attractive! The sushi is unbelieveable! Our reservation was kept so me & the girls didn't have to wait on a Friday night! All this being said, the service was not so great. We waited a half hour for salads and another half or more for the sushi. Our waiter kept disappearing,...where too? Is there a secret back room at Sushi Rock? If so, is the service better back there?

SERIOUSLY GO SOMEWHERE ELSE THIS PLACE IS NOT GOOD

For those of us who do not eat sushi we must please those who do...so we are forced to watch you eat raw fish whilst we order some "regular" cooked food. First the service was A W F U L horrible. Drinks -- Maker's Mark and Coke. Simple enough. Three times brought Straight Makers Mark, then Makers Mark over ice, then Coke only....A trip to the bar rectified the situation. The $35 Filet (I know never order steak from a sushi place) was ordered Medium Rare and came out well done. The princess cut filet (8oz) ordered came out a steak appetizer. The (12 oz) filet came out 8 oz, so a second 8 oz filet was brought out....horrific. Not to mention waitress was nowhere to be found. The punk 25 year old manager "agreed that this is not right" and offered to let me keep the steak appetizer and not pay......??????? Do not ever ever go to this awful crappy mistake of a restaurant.

DON'T EAT HERE

The service at this restaurant is awful! If you go for lunch, expect to be there at least an hour and a half (which boggles the mind since they are not even cooking the food they serve). They will take your reservation, but will not actually reserve a table for you and you will end up waiting anyway. And don't expect an apology or reasonable explanation for why there's no table for you. The food there is really good, but not worth the hassle. I recommend going somewhere else.

Northern Ohio Live Magazine

At Sushi Rock, worries over the cuisine's finer points - Should I mix the soy sauce and wasabi? Am I holding my chopsticks right? (no, and probably not) - are quickly forgotten. It's not that diners are crass or that the food isn't excellent - everyone is simply having too good a time. Young professionals and older couples sip martinis and laugh while scratching out orders on the sushi menu; large, glowing cityscapes gleam on the walls, transporting both hardcore eel lovers and California roll newbies to a higher urbane plane. Still not smiling? On Wednesday evenings, all sushi and maki rolls are half-price (be sure to make your reservations early).

Keep In Mind:
Rating everything 5 stars or all 1 stars is typically not very useful to others as makes you look a bit biased.

Remember, you can still visit a not so perfect place (ie, a dive joint) and still give it 5 overall stars.
