For those who frown upon (per reviews below) just remember... some people just cannot appreciate the finer things in life. It is not your fault or this wonderful restaurant... but when you say you have had better food at Denny's... well... having said money to spend does not reflect the true potential to fully appreciate the experience of pure genuis.

We've been to Swingo's three times. The first time was a weekend, and all was good - service, food, etc. The last two times were during the week and all was not good. The second time, the food was average, at best, although the prices (and the service) were much pricier (over $100 for an appetizer, two entrees, a drink, and a dessert). The third time, the food was a bit below average (calamari was great, but the salad was weak and the chicken and scrod were ... okay, but not so great). But this time, the service was a let down. Although it wasn't our waitresses fault (we think) they messed up our original order and asked us if we wanted something else. We did, but had to wait an additional 30 minutes for our food. All told, an hour and a half for average food and lousy service and high prices (one appetizer and two entrees - the two cheapest, by the way - equaled $80). Not that we asked, but we thought it would be nice to get a "comp" for waiting so long - no dice.
In the end, Swingo's is a charming place, but the food is overrated and severely - SEVERELY -over priced. Won't be spending our money there again in the ... well, ever.

Longtime legend Swingos moved from its downtown Cleveland location years ago, but it retains its charm. A fancy restaurant in an understated setting, the place offers a nice view of the lake and the downtown skyline. Its telephone-book-size wine list features a selection ranging from reasonably priced glasses to $4,000 bottles. Catering to a somewhat older clientele, Swingos serves '70s-style food as well: huge portions of fussy favorites, including appetizers like oysters Rockefeller, and entrees such as the Keg and Quarter pepper steak and ""scallamari"" (sea scallops and calamari sauteed in butter, garlic and wine), with several prepared tableside (complete with the requisite flames). The walls on the long walk to the restrooms are covered with dozens of autographed photos of and letters from the many celebrities who dined here decades ago, from Frank Sinatra to, well ? Meat Loaf.

I ate, the other night, for the first time at Swingos. The atmosphere was very upscale and the servers appropriate for the same, but when the food came...I have had better tasting food at Dennys. The side dish of potatoes lengtine was poorly done hash browns. The scrod florentine was cold and unappeticing. The salad was like grass and was old. The salad dressing was oily for a vinagerette. The prices were too high for the quality of the dinner.
