I Fought the Fig & the Fig won
The Flying Fig was phenomenal!
We began with the savory smalls with included our pick of a trio of small plates which included the Medjool Dates stuffed with House made Chorizo, wrapped in smoked bacon, smoked pepper sauce; Stuffed Banana Peppers with House made Italian Sausage and tomato-thyme coulis tomato and fennel sauce, Mascarpone Cheese.
Next was a Local Beet Salad with Coriander Roasted Pears, Frisee, Hazelnut & Ginger Vinaigrette. For the entree we had the Ohio Beef Burger with buttermilk blue cheese, bacon & caramelized onion, House made pickles and ketchup, Fries and the New Creation Farms Pork Osso Bucco-tagliatelle, citrus-fennel gremolata and Romano cheese. A sweet ending of the house made ice cream-Salted Caramel.
The service was impecable and the evening was great.
The only criticism would be that they should invest in using the Barbancourt Rum when making their Dark and Stormy Drink.
This cozy urban bistro is a definite must do when in the Cleveland area.
A stones throw away from the West Side Market.

Mother's Day review
Food was fabulous. Service needs to be addressed. Reservations were made for Mother's Day ahead of time. Number in party did not match tables set up for our party. Asked for accommodations, it was like pulling teeth. When meals were served with exception of 2 guests at the tables. First of all, if it's Mother's Day, you would think the Mothers would be served first. The single woman was served first and the Mother of two children at the table was waiting for her meal. While the other table had to ask the waitress again for the missing meal for the male at our table. No complaints on the food and for that I will return. My first visit but numerous times for our daughter and son-in-law who treated us to the meal. I hope by next visit issues will be resolved so staff will be aware and attentive. Water was always kept filled and much appreciated. Looking forward to next visit.

Bad customer service
I visited this place after good reviews from friends and it was a disappointment. The food was not bad but the customer service was. I called in a day earlier than my reservation date and spoke to a guy to tell that it was my husband's b'day and to ask if they can bring in a cake (anything from the existing dessert menu) as a surprise he agreed and said they will make a note. The next day I discovered that he did no such thing and requested the waitress to bring a dessert with a candle on top. After our dinner and an irritating long wait the cake came with no candle in it and the waitress said she forgot and went in again to bring it with the candle!! So much for all my planning. If you call to make reservations they put you on hold for like 5 minutes or more!!! They surely need to change the guy at the front and also the problem waitresses.

greatttt
Wow!! this place is incredible and the food is great. I have been here twice and have had a great experience both times. the service was perfect and the wine selection was great. The seating was comfortable also, because everyone hates a crammed spot and this was def. not crammed. perfect date spot!!

Flying Fig's Bar Rocks
Wow! I brought a group of New Yorkers into the Fig, they were impressed. We decided Flying Fig is cool without trying too hard, like so many other places. (see Tremont and Downtown)
Great atmoshphere, supurb food, best bartender in Cleveland. (thanks Dave!) We'll be back!

Fabulous Fig!
Had the great pleasure of dining at the Flying Fig last week. What a terrific experience! The food was fabulous and the wait staff fantastic!
My husband had an appetizer of mussels and shrimp combined with tidbits of pineapple, and as an entree, what he said was the best duck he has ever had. I had the pork shoulder entree and everything on the plate was unbelievably delicious. Each bite seemed to be better than the last. I was only sorry I could not eat it all.
Our server, Michael, was knowledgeable, attentive and friendly and greatly added to our pleasant dining experience.
We felt the prices to be reasonable. Our bill for two entrees, an appetizer, a beer and an iced tea was $58.00. Plus, I love that you can make reservations online - through this website. Had a confirmation within 2 hours.
Another nice touch - the ladies room had very nice - big, thick disposable hand towels - I was impressed!
The Flying Fig is a superb restaurant and we cannot wait to go back.

A terrific restaurant in one of the city's newest old neighborhoods - Ohio City - Flying Fig is done all in muted tones, including the art on the walls. You can easily make a meal of the appetizers here: The pupu platter contains three satisfyingly sweet and savory chicken dumplings, a crisp and flavorful duck spring roll, and broiled shrimp with a hint of curry. The near-perfect house salad (local baby greens, roasted figs, Maytag blue cheese and spiced walnuts with sherry-citrus vinaigrette), the pan-seared scallops and the sesame-crusted calamari are delicious. Fish aficionados love the big bowl of bouillabaisse, an update on the restaurant's former cioppino (a stew-like variety of fish and shellfish in a tomato-garlic broth). Even though you'll be too full, order dessert anyway - you don't have to eat the whole thing, but you probably will.

I finally understand Happy Hour
Can't beat the Happy Hour food. Try the FEESH & CHIPS. Unbeatable.
Fantastic wine selection and the martinis rock.
For an unforgetable meal sit yourself down and order anything. It's all good.
Karen Small's combinations of flavors, textures and ingredients are unmatched.
If you have a chance try a wine dinner. You simply can't ignore the value.
Summertime... Think Patio!!!!!
Best Restaurant (in my opinion) in Cleveland.
