The Tradition Continues

I have heard about the New York Spaghetti House for many years from my parents and friends. I however have never experienced it. I went before a Cavs game and had a blast. My service was excellent, my food was amazing and I got my first taste of the Brown Sauce. I had heard of the "Brown Sauce" from several different people but words can not explain how much I enjoyed the taste of it. I would suggest this restaurant to all my friends and anyone who is looking for a great dining experience.

No Spaghetti at NY Spaghetti House

The space allowed for this review cannot cover the horrible dining experience we had here. From start to finish. Reservation not honored, poor seating, plates dirty, food had to be sent back, terrible taste on the one entree we did receive. Nothing authentic about it. Taste was like a commercial jar of sauce. My partner had to send hers back, because it wasn't edible, and after waiting another 20+ minutes for it to be fixed, we gave up and left. Customers were told that the restauraunt had run out of spaghetti and were asked to reorder. Other parties also left after waiting over an hour for their food. It was like nothing we have ever experienced. Extremely poor management. Obviously,we would never return!!

Northern Ohio Live Magazine

Once upon a time, New York Spaghetti House held the record for being the longest continually operating restaurant in Cleveland. And now it's back - a worthwhile reincarnation. The mounted hunting trophies are gone from the bar, but once you enter the lower-level dining room, nearly all is as it was: murals of Italian vistas, red-and-white checkered tablecloths and bentwood chairs. A 21st-century sound system makes it sound as though Frank, Dino and Tony are serenading in the next room. Crusty bread with extra-virgin olive oil starts things off; the house salad, a chiffonade of romaine, comes topped with a honey-sweetened balsamic vinaigrette or a Caesar dressing. Pasta arrives hot and al dente. Happily, the marinara packs a more robust flavor and color punch than as memory serves, and the eggplant Parmesan is still the city's gold (actually, golden brown) standard for comparison. A pair of cannoli - with sweetened, whipped ricotta and chocolate chips stuffed into crunchy tubes - offer a sweet meal's end and a sweet promise that a long-standing tradition in Cleveland dining continues.
