Food Good, Service Blah
My husband and I went to Three Birds for our anniversary a couple weeks ago. We thought the food was good, but we still prefer Flying Fig. Our waiter had no personality at all. I practically had to flag her down for things. Plus, for the price, the waiters are dressed in faded blue jeans and seem uninterested.

Great food, lousy service.
I eat at the three birds restaurant for the first time this week. The food was excellent and the pation is absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, our service was very poor. Our waitress took our food order and then came back because she forgot it and then - we never saw her again until we left when she was sitting at the bar chatting. Another server then brought our main dishes - the wrong ones to the wrong table. We never got the soup we ordered. After we finally got the correct entrees we had to wait for silverware. At which point I ordered another glass of wine that was never received from a third server. The third server stopped back over and asked us if we wanted anything else after not bringing the second glass of wine. At which point, I cancelled the wine and the soup and received a lathargic "I'm sorry" response and the every popular "I will make sure the soup is taken off the bill" as if I would pay for it otherwise.

High prices and a lot of spices
I have been here twice and both times I felt it was overpriced for the food I received. They use a lot of herbs and spices which mask the food instead of letting the natural flavors come out. The atmosphere was great as was the service, but we will not be back.

Three Cheers for Three Birds!
Very romantic...great first date restaurant! I've had dinner at Three Birds about 6 times. The gentleman (who is either the owner or manager) is very sweet. Steak, and Lamb are very good...one time i did have a grouchy server but the other times staff was great.

The best!!!!
We fell in love with this place when we first moved here, and go here all the time now. Everyhting about it from food to staff is wonderful. The reviewer here who said it's pretentious is crazy - we're very casual diners and were treated very well, every time. I recommend the grouper with the coconut rice, it's the best meal I've had since moving here! The place is pretty too, new and well-designed and clean!!! It reminds me of a place we used to go to in New York. I can't wait to dine outside on their patio all summer!
If there is a drawback, it's that you can't smoke? But you get over it.

Superb Lakewood place
I had a lamb dish and my wife had fish. We started with a glass of champagne each with a lovely appetizer. Then I switched to red wine and my wife to white for our entrees. There was a good selection of wines by the glass and our choices, prompted by the knowledgable waitress, were interesting and delicious. Every item served, each side dish was tasty, carefully prepared (medium rare red meat in my case) and satisfying. The service was perfect: The waitress waited to be asked for advice before offering it and she seemed to appear exactly when needed, but not before. She was pleasant and self-effacing. The ambience was also very pleasant: Background music at a low level, modern surroundings, with about enough light to see well.
Three birds is at the level of the best Tremont eateries and other well-established and well-known places in Cleveland.
The prices fit that level of cuisine and service - about a hundred for dinner and wine for two.

Give 'em the bird...
Overcrowded, overpriced, pretentious pap for the pretty people. Food was relatively tasteless as was most of the crowd. This is the in place of the year, but I won't be back. Overdone meat, underdone side dishes artistically arranged at a high price. Can you tell I didn't like it?

Follow the garden path just off busy Detroit Avenue to the dramatic glass faìade of Three Birds, named one of the best new restaurants of 2003 by Esquire magazine. In stark contrast to the garden's timeless beauty, Three Birds' interior strikes a modern chord with accents such as exposed brick walls and overhead ductwork; tables and booths are linearly arranged to maximize every diner's courtyard view. This blending of elements carries over into the cuisine as well - Culinary Institute of America-trained Executive Chef John Kolar (formerly of New York's Vong) uses seasonal American ingredients as a starting point, then adds a few worldly accents to make each dish innovative. Thin and crisp pizzas - one topped with prosciutto and blue cheese - arrive hot from the clay fire oven.
