TOO SERIOUS
I first had this food years ago at the Arcade. I had never seen a line so long for a little restaurant but after the entertainment from the cashier and the smiles from his wife, I knew why people didn't mind waiting in line. The teriyakiki chicken is the best I ever had. I like the fact that I didn't have to watch them throw cut up raw chicken on a grill and wait for it too cook as the line got longer and longer. Keep up the good work and making me happy at lunchtime.

Boda Bing
Love this place it is reasonably priced (has not change much in over 20 yrs.) The owner's son is very entertaining.
The chicken teriyakiki may not be traditional it is however very tasty as I order that often. You must have the rice with a little pickled ginger and the blackened sesame seeds with a little of the salad dressing on top...yum.

This place is the bomb!
I have been going to this restaurant for over 20 years. The owner was born in Japan, her son and daughter in law run the place. The food is great! The spring roll is by far the best I have ever had. The chicken on a stick (kashikutsu??) is delicious. The salad dressing is the best I have ever had and the rice is always cooked perfectly. My favorite is the Little Somthing Feature and for the money it can never be beat! The people are very friendly and outgoing, not generally something you get in a downtown restaraunt! I would suggest to anyone to give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

Let's be civil
I ordered the $3.95 veggie stir fry. The sauce was delicious but the veggies were slightly overcooked. Although the veggie portion was extremely small, luckily they are served on an overabundance of tasty rice. It also comes with a small salad. In my opinion, the value for the money is average to slightly below average, unless you love rice. The place is always busy but the service is relatively fast and the line moves quickly. The atmosphere is better than one would expect for a restaurant of this type and it is clean. The cashier can be entertaining, but I can see how some people might be put off by him. This is the first time I have been back there in many years and it seems like he has mellowed considerably. His wife is extremely nice and helpful.

I totally disagree
One of the most pleasant experiences in Cleveland is eating at this little gem of a reatauant. The previous reviwer insulted the chicken because it wasn't cut in small pieces for her, like the 'Sakia Japan''s she's seen in malls (probably the only Japanese food she ever ate). Does she have a dental problem? Does she think all food should be prepared the same by everyone?
My biggest beef with that review is her insulting of the husband who works as the cashier (while his wife prepares the order). He is hilarious. If you doubt me, sit at a table near the counter. Every person leaving with their order has a huge smile or is outright laughing. The guy is a breath of fresh air, & he & his wife (who somehow still laughs at his jokes, even though he's been telling the same ones since I first saw them in '91)run a high-quality, inexpensive place for lunch.

Wouldn't Know Teriyaki If They Were Drowning In It
This is, overall, a decent restaurant. It's clean, the people are friendly (though perhaps eccentric) and the food is passable. It's inexpensive, and great if you're eating alone because they have lots of small tables, and a TV. The place has attractive Japanese decor. But they have NO IDEA what teriyaki is. After being served two baked, whole chicken breasts (teriyaki is cut into small pieces and grilled or fried) marinated in a bland sauce, I don't even have the heart to try their other offerings. I am convinced that they don't even know where Japan is, let alone how to make Japanese food.

Umm...
This is a small place that does a lot of business during lunch - the blonde lady who takes your order is efficient and friendly.
However, the guy behind the counter is SO OBNOXIOUS. He prattles on, never shutting up, coming close to (if not already) offending people with his mouthing-off.
If you don't get a drink (cans of soda for the most part, with the exception of green tea) he'll harangue you about it. He makes assumptions about you, your life, and practically anything else. It's a real pain.
I liked the food (though the sesame chicken didn't appear to have *any* sesame in it - hmm) but that guy is such a pill, so I don't think I'll be going back again because I can't stand to deal with him.
It's a shame, too, because the food is decent, and any high marks this place gets is all due to the lady who takes your order and prepares it for you.
