Wow and Double Wow
I have been eating at Tommy's since... forever! Absolute best falafel in town - "Uncle Russ" is my personal fave. Haven't been there in awhile since I now work in Westlake... but it is definately WORTH THE LONG TRIP for the best chocolate malted in town! Whenever out of town folk or former Clevelanders visit, I make sure to include at least one meal at Tommy's. Terrific menu for vegetarians and carnivores alike, friendly wait staff, fair pricing... GOOD FOOD! An experience not to be missed!

Love Tommy's since 1972
I have been going to Tommy's since 1972 when the restaurant was up at the corner of Coventry & Euclid Heights. I & my family just love the food whether it is the DC or the Silver or Aunt Gay sandwiches or meat pies. The milkshakes are to die for! I don't go there for fast service; I go there to have good food & to relax & enjoy the atmosphere. I have gone with just my husband & with a large family group. Tommy & his family are wonderful. They provided our family with a wonderful selection of food when my mother-in-law passed away unexpectedly.

Tommy's is a classic!
Unlike a couple of the previous reviewers, I have never experienced poor service at Tommy's -
keep in mind this is a casual restaurant that employs young staff that are usually students, (since it is very close to a university),so don't expect 4 star waitstaff!
The menu is very large - lots to choose from.
I'm not an adventurous eater, but Tommy's lamb meat pie is one of my favorites (yep, to me that is adventurous!). For pure decadence you can make a meal from their fantastic homemade fries and one of their classic milkshakes, served in a metal container - enough for two people.
The wait can be long to be seated at peak hours - proof that this is a very popular place on Coventry, so in spite of what the other reviewers say, give it a try.

Tommy's is great
I disagree that the wait staff at Tommy's is rude and/or doesn't get orders right. I have been going there for over twenty years and have always had fairly good to great service. There have been many occassions when I have been with a very large group, when it would be easy to confuse the orders and have never had any problems. As with any service industry, I feel that people are usually responding in kind to how they are being treated! As for the attire of the staff- this is COVENTRY, and funky clothes, hair etc... are part of the vibe on Coventry. We love the food, my kids love the food and Tommy Fello is one of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet. I rate Tommy's A-plus.

travel to Tommy's
I have to come all the way from NYC to eat the best hummus ever! I was born and bred in Cleveland but have lived outside of NYC for 22 years now. I try to make it back "home" once a year and top on my list is a visit to Tommy's. The spinach pies are to die for. Everything on the menu is great! However, I have to agree that the service is not good. My order was mixed up and the wait staff was unfriendly. It's noisy and crowded but you have to know that going in. Prices are average. Go - you'll like it.

Worst service, ever
I have been here numerous time, and the food is always excellent and cheap -- delicious spinach pie for under ten dollars, or my favorite: a sandwich of falafel, mushrooms, humus and alfalfa sprouts for similar pricing. They excel in clever and unusual combinations of ingredients, rather than particularly great cooking; don't expect hamburgers to be perfectly cooked to order. However, I avoid Tommy's as much as I can because the service is atrocious. We regularly have to wait more than 20 minutes just to get drink orders; servers are unapologetically rude and seem to derive pleasure from telling you that they are out of whatever you just ordered (a common occurrence.) The place is regularly packed and noise filters in from the bookstore next door. Trying to hear the person across from you is an exercise in futility. If you're the sort who likes tidy looking waitstaff, forget it -- street clothes and numerous piercing are the rule for waiters and the cook's outfits are about the same: I have never seen a hairnet or covering of body/facial hair for anyone in the place.

For over 25 years
I use to go to the coventry fair, when it was a REAL street fair. Alex Beven, Great weed, and Tommy's.
The food was the best then, as is now. God Bless tommy's, and save a J.J. for me !!!!!!!
The fries RULE !!!!!

Love it
Tommy's is the real deal. Casual atmosphere, great food, and reasonable prices. As someone who is afarid to try new foods, I toughed it out and ended up loving the variety at Tommy's. Fries and Milkshakes are a must! Killer vegetarian choices too!

As both heart and stomach of Coventry Village, this casual cafe has been serving vegetarian food since it became fashionable to do so. The scene is laid-back, and that includes the service. Diners, many of whom have been coming for more than 30 years, have a wealth of meaty and not-so-meaty items to choose from: An entire page is dedicated to fresh and inventive salads. The Lauren (most items are named after friends of Tommy) combines spinach, chopped egg, cheese, onion and a mound of hummus. Meat pies, spinach pies and falafel sandwiches come with assorted fillings and toppings too numerous to report. If meat is your thing (and hey, that's cool with us), the burgers and corned beef sandwiches will do just fine. Homemade desserts like carrot cake are better than ever, but hand-dipped milkshakes top the sweets list.

food of the gods
First and foremost, the menu. By far the most extensive menu I've ever seen. They offer so much that it is almost to the point of diminshing returns, but not really. Superb for the vegetarian, but also satisfactory for the omnivore. Broccoli Risso -- highly recommend. And the fries, oh the fries....FRICKIN" AWESOME!! The best is the milk shakes. My fav - mint chocolate chip.
