Nothing to Sing About
The best item on the menu is the grilled salmon. Otherwise, it's pretty much the same old non-excitement. Sometimes they will surprise with a good soup like Chicken Florentine, then keep you guessing as the when it will appear again. The service is lousy. I don't care if there are two people or ten people, you will have to wait for even a glass of water. Sometimes the person that comes after you, gets bread and water before you do. I've had to stand up and ask for a bill, the waitress has a way of hiding in the kitchen and not reappearing until you threaten to come back there. Needs improvement. Last time I was there, construction work was being done on the outside. Dusty windows and dusty tables were the decor, and no one seemed to notice. Yeah, they can definitely do better.

Playhouse Square regulars know Acappella as the little Italian place on the corner of 17th and Euclid that serves up reliably good meals workday after workday. But occasional visitors to the theater district may not realize that the lunch spot is also open at night for those hankering for a pre-show plate of linguine and a glass of wine. Operated since 1998 by Karen Heldorfer, Acappella has garnered a loyal following. The menu specializes in veal, chicken and seafood, with one of the most popular dishes being the chicken escarole: medallions of chicken, portabella mushrooms and sauteed escarole in white-wine butter sauce, tossed with penne pasta and pecorino Romano cheese. The authentic Italian recipes came off the boat in 1912, says Chef Eric Paul, who's been at the kitchen's helm for years.
