June 03, 2005        This East Side eatery may take a bit of effort to find, but the out-of-the-way locale is a big part of its charm. The brick building, constructed in 1868, was home to a number of local industrial businesses prior to its conversion into the Columbia Match Company 70 years later. The restaurant pays homage to this 20th-century heritage through its name and signage, reminiscent of the logo on a vintage box of wooden matches. Guests of the Blue Tip Grille are welcomed by a warm wooden interior, featuring cozy tables and booths, and presented with a menu that features tender steaks, sumptuous seafood, and creative chicken and pasta dishes. The Pasta Matchworks combines sauteed shrimp, chicken and andouille sausage with a roasted red pepper cream sauce, set atop penne pasta finished with roma tomatoes and fresh herbs.
