Must have been an off night
I've been to VTR a few times but for whatever reason the other night was awful. Due to the high prices this is usually a once or twice a year event for my friends and I. When we arrived there were no tables available so they took our name down for the next available. After about 20 minutes and no one asking if we would like a drink someone in our group decided to go to the bar and try to get someones attention. At that time a waitress finally came over and asked if we would like to order a drink. I asked is there a table opening up soon? (two tables had just left a minute before). She said no and I asked her if we could take one of the open tables and she got upset and said "absolutely not!" She then noticed that someone in our group had went to the bar to try to get a drink, mind you after waiting over 20mins at this point, and she got upset. She eventually took his drink order and left. At this point I overheard several bartenders talking and they were wondering why all these people(my group) were gathering around. Well maybe because no one sat us and we were told we couldn't take the two oh wait 3 tables now, that were open!!!!! 10 more minutes go by and I finally grab another bartender and she sat us at one of the many open tables. Which only had 3 chairs for 6 people. then yet another bartender walked by and told us to sit down and make ourselves comfortable. At this point I walked across the bar and grabbed 2 more chairs. I ended up standing the entire time. She asked if we wanted to order drinks and we said there was someone already taking care of us. So another 15 minutes go by and the first bartender came back with one of our guys drinks and took the order for the rest of our table. After about 30 minutes she comes back with only 4 of our drinks so this leaves us with one who never got a drink. It took another 25 minutes to finally get our last drink!!!! and I had to ask another bartender who ended up making it!!!!! As usual most of the drinks were good but the eggnog(which VTR is known for and I've had and like) was awful. Tasted like watered down skim milk with a shot of rum. At this point we were all so annoyed we just paid our bill and left. The service has always been a little shaky here and it is a shame for the price paid. For $16 a drink in Cleveland I expect a lot more and will be VERY hesitant to suggest VTR the next time my friends and I plan a night out. I could think of a lot of better ways to spend $100 for a night out in Cleveland!

Its not all Velvet
Beautiful place there is no doubt. Drinks are great and should be for the price. Service, well not so great. In a crowded room last night I should have been a man to get noticed and get serviced. Last night should have been another bartender who isn't in fansinated with herself to show off making drinks. Also. I was a bartender and I usually leave a 20% tip, but not last night. Disappointed seeing people in there with blue jeans and tennis shoes. If you are going to charge those prices the service need to be top shelf too!

Cocktails... same ol' same ol'???? I think not!
"The way Our Friend spoke of this drink would make you think that only God himself could have possibly created such a thing by his very own hands."
"Sometimes, the truest key to making flavor work is totally deconstructing all of the elements."
Go ahead, you should true it! The Velvet Tango Room. http://www.velvettangoroom.com/

DO NOT let this picture fool you
Inside the brick building pictured here is PARADISE. You are taken back to a time where movie stars were not drunken 21 year olds but MOVIE STARS. Here you think you are in a 1940's lounge. A place where the lights are low, the jazz is live and the drinks are hot or cold, shaken or stirred, decadent or simple.. anything you want them to be EXCEPT.. fake and ordinary.
You walk into real hardwood floors, low lighting and a hostess who tells you to sit anywhere and she will come to you. She will come to you bearing an teaser of sparking wine. It is to prepare you for the tasteful wonders to follow. After you read the menu, you will choose a drink that you can watch be created and I mean created. This place has no fake flavorings.. if there is lime in it they are squeezing fresh lime juice before you. You are really watching master craftswomen at work. They will bring you your drink and leave you to enjoy, but they are always a look away if you want to sample another of their delights.
I still can not believe this place exists. There are some who think it a tad pricey, but I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for... and here you get luxury all the way.
You walk in feeling like a Clevelander and walk out feeling like a Movie Star.
Yes, it is that good.

First Class all the way.
The service and drinks here are first class. An older mature crowd adds to the experience of this fine night spot. I highly recommend trying the 'French 75'and YES, this place is worth the price they fetch for those wonderful drinks.

Your Wallet won't have much left but Velvet in it!
Nicely done with decorative pieces. Enjoyed the atmosphere; however, the prices are sky high. Take a lot of money... you will definitely need it! The Service was very good, and they appear to treat you like 'loyalty'. I was impressed with this area of service.
