Little Surprise
We found Venezia by accident tonight; although I have driven down Detrot Rd. hundreds of times, I have never noticed Venezia before. We decided to go in since we were hungry and there was no wait. The first thing I noticed was the heavenly smell that permeated the air upon entering the quaint and unassuming restaurant. My companion, however, was confused by the clash between the wonderful Italian smells and the articles posted in the window discussing a Moroccan place!
Being vegetarians, there were not a lot of selections to choose from. We decided on the eggplant appetizer ($6 for a small dip and garlic toast pieces), a pizza (delicious and perfectly concocted), and dessert. Each dessert was $6 and we were pleased with both. The warm plum tart with marzipan was not recommended by the server (who was a little strange) but tender, tart and sweet. The ricotta cheesecake was also very good. We drank San Pellegrino, which was $4 per bottle.
Overall, I think this is a nice place. I love the idea of a local business making it...so I suggest that if you like Italian food you should try it out instead of heading to Olive Garden (again!). Meat eaters will be pleased.
