A tiny carriage house nestled among the big, important buildings of University Hospital and Case Western Reserve University, Major's Club Isabella occupies an odd niche in the Cleveland restaurant scene: Located in a place more suited to a lunch bunch, the joint manages to attract a dinner crowd with frequent live jazz acts and skillfully rendered food. Starters - or ""beginnings,"" as they are called here - include soups, salads, smoked salmon and a daily selection of sushi served with wasabi, soy and spicy-sweet sesame sauce. Among the seafood selections is the much-lauded seafood tortellini (pan-seared shrimp, scallops, mussels, crawfish and lobster, tossed with cheese-filled tortellini in a sherry tomato-basil sauce), grouper, salmon and tilapia en papillote. A pair of veal dishes, filet mignon, duck and chicken entrees nicely round out a very substantial dinner menu. Soups, salads and sandwiches are available for lunch, along with crab cakes, salmon and a traditional fish fry.
