I Recently Visited Viva and had a wonderful experience. The food was excellent I had ordered the Dover Sol and it was prepared table side, quite a beautiful presentation. Our server knew the whole menu and specials with out even looking at anything and recommended a wonderful bottle of wine to accompany the meal. After the meal we ordered Barcelona Coffee's also prepared table side. All in all we had a wonderful night and would recommend Viva to anyone that wants to enjoy a great meal at a great restaurant.

I just read over at the Cleveland Plain Dealer forums that someone just dined here on August 1, and they presented the server with a gift card for 100.00 , and they refused to accept it. Stated that the previous owner had taken the machine and they had no idea what the card was really worth. Now I see that Two different radio stations are offering the 50.00 certificates for 25.00. I would tread lightly here. New owners are not making a good impression.

Ive been dining here since the place opened, very good veal, scallops, steaks. But I feel that the place is going down hill. First of all, I am a salt freak. So I tend to order dishes with capers, panchetta, etc. But when my husband stated that his plain steak was salty, I realized it doesnt matter what you order, its all salty. Im not crazy about their rice and the chips they can keep, but the patio always kept me coming back, expecially, the sangrias, the best, but then I found out the bartender was not the same person and 22.00 for a pitcher of sangria that was just watered down red wine was awful. Im gonna miss that patio.

Fernando, the former owner, was was the Antonio Banderas of the restaurant scene. Handsome and suave he was the perfect host guiding your dining experience. He is gone. He was replaced by George, the Omar Sharif of the restaurant scene. Charming and unassuming, he made each dinner there a special occasion. He is gone. Now the old world charm and pizzazz is gone. So is the service. Came in for a late lunch, only to be given old coffee. Took two hours to eat a late lunch! quality of food and service clearly in the decline. Eat at a chain, better food and cheaper.

We really enjoy this restaurant. Very professional and first class all around. And the outside patio in the summer is especially nice. Very nicely decorated inside and out! The food is excellent and so is the service!

We have dined here several times and much to our chagrin, learned that the meat is pre-cooked in the morning and re-heated for dinner to save time. Does food at this price justify 'reheating' meat? This is a cheesy place with cheesy people.

In my never ending life's task of finding great food, great atmosphere and courteous service, I have found a Bonanza.
One of the most difficult dishes to prepare is also one of my favorites. Dover Sole! The wait staff at Viva Barcelona are highly skilled in the art of cleaning this deliciously flavorful fish. A great pet peave... Dover Sole with a few bones! None here folks! Once your Dover arrives with it's entourage of waiters, "if you order more than one at the table", they proceed to prepare this for you right there as it should be taking great care in cleaning you feast. All you have to do from there is close your eyes and savor the moment!
Who needs a menu? Have your waiter simply give you the specials. You can't go wrong.
The patio, when warm has a variety of live entertainment that provides for a sheik and friendly environment.
Viva Barcelona, in my humble opinion.... A must.

Westlake's Viva Barcelona annually places in Northern Ohio Live's readers poll, and it's no wonder: The restaurant serves outstanding Spanish cuisine in a stylish setting that invites diners to linger, sharing not only the paella Valenciana - saffron rice mixed with seafood, chicken and chorizo sausage - but dessert and a nightcap at the bar as well (try the fabulous house sangria). The menu is substantial, and the genteel waitstaff will be happy to make recommendations; just be sure to come hungry, as the portions are large. Entrees include the aforementioned paella, as well as escalopines de ternera cordobesa (veal scalloppine with prosciutto and spinach), langosta rellena (succulent twin lobster tails stuffed with crabmeat) and filete de tilapia en salsa whisky (filet of tilapia with almonds in a whiskey sauce).
