Vivo has been my favorite restaurant in Cleveland since our first visit shortly after it opened. We wandered over last Saturday after a comedy show for a romantic dinner on the sidewalk on a warm summer evening. Sammuel, our waiter was exquisetly polite and professional and very attentive. He surprised my wife with a thoughful birthday candle in her dessert. So many of the special entrees were enticing, that we had a difficult time choosing. The creative twists on Northern Italian dishes, wonderful wine list, clean cool style, and polished, friendly staff make Vivo my top choice in Cleveland for a total dining experience and the best place to impress.

I went to Vivo with my friend who was visiting from Chicago. For an appetizer, we ordered the calamari, which was reasonably priced at $8.
My friend is really hard to please when it comes to food, so I almost fell over when he said the calamari was the best he'd ever tasted. He went on about it the rest of the night, and insisted we go back next time he's in town. Dinner was divine. I order the rare seared tuna & tarte, which cost around $30, and part of the meal included caramelized onions -- a real treat! My friend also enjoyed his meal, wood fired veal tenderloin, which came with fresh spinach and potatoes.
We were delighted with the friendly service.

Dimly lit and draped in velvet, Vivo's dining room beckons you to sit, linger and have another cocktail. The crowd ranges from youngish hipsters to, well, older hipsters, some of whom might be strategically placed in a window seat to draw the interest of passersby. Vivo's menu is Italian with a bit of flair: Starters range from antipasto del giorno and bruschetta to the excellent saffron risotto with lobster and herbs, and roasted corn soup with fried sage. Half a dozen pasta entrees, plus the ravioli del giorno, compete for diners' attention with Vivo's substantial secondi piatti: osso buco, grilled beef tenderloin, seafood, lamb, veal and chicken. The restaurant offers an extensive wine list (heavy on the reds), including ports and sparkling wines and champagnes. Beautiful cocktails, including the summery Bellini, are easy to enjoy with your meal or at Vivo's see-and-be-seen bar.

Vivo offers delectable dishes and a variety of pasta creations to please any palate. Pair them with Vivo’s extensive Italian wine list and cultivating atmosphere to create an unforgettable experience. Bottom line: It's a great place to take clients, dates and out of town friends. It's centrally located at E. 4th Street & Euclid Avenue -- making it a great place to dine before a HOB concert. It's a nightly dinner party!
