New Year Celebration of 2013
Hadnt been to White Oaks in some 30 years, and was pleasan tly surprised at how the quaint ambiance has stayed the same. That is why reviews are difficult to decipher, for many people may not like the old look anymore of which I do. Meals were terrific, servers very attentive. A little crazy with the shift changes of patrons passing through the little corridor, but tolerable.

Wonderful Rehersal Dinner
We had a wedding rehersal dinner for 49 people. The kitchen and staff did an outstanding job of preparing 3 different dinner choices (steak, chicken, and fish) just the way each individual diner requested. This was a perfect setting with our group having one room for cocktails and another for dinner. Both rooms featured warm firplaces which added to making this dinner special for all in attendance.

Happy Holidays
My brother purchased a $60.00 gift certificate as a Christmas gift since we are moving back to the Cleveland area. Unfortunately I mistakenly threw it away with the envelope. When my brother went back to the restaurant with his receipt for two $60.00 gift certificates and the number of the other gift certificate, he was told that the numbers on the gift certificates meant nothing and that he should just accept that he lost $60.00 in cash. Even if someone could retrieve the gift certificate from a trash compactor, since we live in Massachusetts I doubt anyone would drive to Ohio to use it. I understand you deal with the "who's who" in Cleveland so I thought your customer service would be better, especially during the Holiday season. I was wrong. We dine out several times a week but we won't be dining with you.

Beef Wellington was a WELL-deserved treat.
My father still raves about his Beef Wellington served at White Oaks (75th birthday celebration!) My wife & I treated my parents to an evening out as we took in the view and nostalgia of a "former speakeasy." We enjoyed favorites from a diverse menu including filet mignon, pork chop and roast duckling. We capped the night with Creme Brulee and van Rooy coffee (a must) but then again I don't get out much!

72nd BIRTHDAY a BUST! sigh....
Went yesterday to White Oaks for my mother's 72nd birthday. The seating was nice and we looked out over a stream w/loons in it.
Sadly, the nice ambiance was all that was nice. The food was very sub par! I ordered the Seared Yellow Fin Tuna. The rice was completely bland, and mushy. No taste at all! The tuna was tough and dry on the outside... No taste in a puddle of rusty slime that did nothing to help the taste at all. The vegetables were all BEIGE and mushy. No firmness, no taste, all mush. Like what you get at a nursing home for people with no teeth or choice!!!
I also had the Escargot. At first I thought the snail bit me...then I realized it was a SHELL in it. That HURT!!!
I noticed that my husbands Beef Wellington looked...uh well... I'd say Chef Ramsey would have called it "donkey ..." He would have been horrified at the food we were served for the price. The tuna was $25.95! YIKES! Horrible. The Cheesecake Factory has an EXCELLENT Seared Tuna Ahi salad and main dish tuna. MUCH better and better price!
We spent over $200 there for 5 people and we didn't get alcohol, one meal was a child's meal, and only 2 people got dessert. Oh..the Creme' Brulee' was a joke. The top wasn't even that nice carmelized sugar top... It was just sugar sprinkled on top and it tasted like instant pudding! YIKES! Not worth the COST at All!!!

Wow... I messed up on the year!
Holy cow... This place has been around longer than I thought. I just drove by the sign the other night, and it has been established since 1928!!! A true 'old timer'!! Once again, I reiterate, this is a great place for a 'special occasion' dinner, or even for a business meeting. Love the atmosphere and everything about this 'oldie, but definitely goodie' restaurant. Keep up the good work!!

A 1940's oldie, but GOODIE for sure!
White Oaks has been around a long time, and I know why... the atmosphere, food, and service are outstanding! A little high on price, but well worth going to celebrate any special occasion... Birthday, Anniversary, etc. I think it is a very romantic place. Request a table near a window, for if you love the outdoors and the beautiful ducks 'doing their thing', then your evening will be well spent enjoying a great dinner, cocktails and soaking up a bit of nature!!
