Beware!
I've been to Gusto for the first time last winter, and everything was perfect. It was dark outside, romantic, cozy, the owner came out and was playing the accordion for the newly engaged couple a few tables over, the food and wine was amazing. I couldn't have asked for a better date.
Needless to say, my boyfriend and I returned last weekend to celebrate my birthday (thinking of how great the first time was) and it was HORRIBLE! First, they placed us (table of 2) between two large 6 people parties, when there were much better more romantic quiet tables to seat us at. They had changed to these cheap one sided paper menus, instead of the nice larger black ones (that should have been our warning to run!) Our waitress never brought us the bread, in fact we were the only table that never got it. She also brought us out the wrong bottle of wine. Then we ordered appetizer, which was okay. And our meals were ridiculous! I ordered the shrimp with polenta and asparagus, which had five shrimp in a small plate, with a small wedge of polenta and 3....yes 3 tiny asparagus....REALLY? All for around $25, the first time I went there I had a huge polenta, with filet topped with gorgonzola, and asparagus all for around $25. Seems that they upped their prices and lowered their portions and quality. Maybe a new chef? My boyfriends meal was the risotto with filet. The risotto was amazing......the filet, was ordered MEDIUM, and served to him RARE. It tasted old, and the sauce tasted like Lysol. When he nicely complained about it, the waitress said he ordered it medium, what was the problem? Honey, that was not medium it was rare, you could barely cut through it and it was cold on the inside. So the manager/maybe owner? came over and was very rude to my boyfriend. Then asked if he wanted a new steak or just wanted them to cook his some more......really? I think a reputable restaurant would NEVER offer to continue to cook their patrons steak, that they messed up. (Once again, we should have just left). So my boyfriend being the nice person said just cook the steak so it's medium. It took awhile, but the steak finally came out, it was medium but still tasted like an old steak. Not one penny was taken off the bill for the horrible service and food we had received. So we decided to run while we could, and went to Presti's for dessert and espresso. We didn't want to waste any more money at that place. Everything that could go wrong, went wrong and my birthday dinner was ruined. All we could do was laugh about it, and NEVER go back!
Beware! You will pay alot, and it's definitely NOT worth it!

A Charmer in Murray Hill !
Can't imagine anyone writing a bad review of Gusto. It's charming as all get-out, wonderful ambiance, friendly servers, an owner who will serenade you with an accordion and the gamberi is wonderful. So, too, were the other dishes. The calamari was so good i wanted to kill the chef ( Pop culture reference -- "Big Night" movie ) I love this place. It's warm and intimate and just plain enjoyable.

Overpriced and Bad Food
An expensive dinner with terrible food. The salad was served with no dressing. The waitress never noticed that it was uneaten and cleared the table without comment. The trout was covered in trout and neither my guest of I could eat it. Accordian player...very small room making the music annoyingly loud. Nice decor. Would never go back.

Great
The food and atmosphere were great. Me and my girlfriend came down this past winter and had a great time. The staff was fun and the valet was quick. My only objection was that the pervert owner kept hitting on me and my boyfriend. He gave my girlfriend the creeps I can't say that I got the best vibes either. We will be returning ... only I hope the perv leaves us alone this time.

Worth the trip
This is the place to go when in Little Italy. We have been there several times and have never been disappointed. Having lived in Italy and dined well there, I can honestly say, the food at Gusto is the closest thing to being in Italy as they come.In addition, the staff, the service and the owner are all the best. They care, they pay attention and they want you to have the best dining experience you can have. Well done.

New York City Dining in Cleveland... WOW
My wife and I recently had the pleasure to dine at Gusto's restaurant in Little Italy. This restaurant is on par with the finer Italian restaurants in New York City! Attentive service, fabulous entrees, a superb wine list and desserts to die for made for us a remarkable evening. The ravioli was one of the finest I have had, and if you want to taste how a real cannoli should be, this is the place! This restaurant, for those that have not been to NYC, IS what a true Italian restaurant is. This is a great place, guys, to show your significant other a wonderful evening of fine food the way it is done in the BIG city.

Ultimate Italian Dining experience
If you are looking for a great place to eat Italian food, look no further than Gusto in Little Italy. It's amazing! I had a caprese (tomato & mozzarella) appetizer and a fresh arugula salad with tomatoes, onions and a light lemon dressing. My main entree was a special and it was so good I cannot stop talking about it. It was fettuccini with scampi's in a chive sauce with grated parmesan cheese - so delish! Calamari was ordered at our table, which I don't like, but it came sautéed in a spicy tomato broth which was excellent for dipping bread in. They also have lemon olive oil & parmesan cheese for dipping bread in but you have to ask for it. I didn't have desert but I had a glass of Vermeer on the rocks after dinner. It's similar to bailey's but has a dutch cocoa flavor, a few of those and you'll be feeling fine.
The place is small so I'd recommend reservations on weekends. With great food and a friendly, knowledgeable staff, I'll definitely be returning here often!

The Best!!!
First of all, I recommend all women to dine at Gusto's. They have a server that speaks with an Italina accent and is so gorgeous he will make you fall off your seat!
Besides that, the tortellini is to die for! I wouldn't normally order tortellini at a restaurant but my brother-in-law had it and it was better than any I have ever had before. The salads are out of this world! The people are so friendly and the service is great! The best dining experience I've had in a long time. My husband and I went with another couple and none of us were disappointed. We will definately be returning to Gusto for more of the same!
