Such a Plus for Cleveland!
What Lebron is to the Cav's, Symon is to Clevelands dining experience! Hands down, this was the best meal I have had out. The price, not an issue as I knew it would be pricey going in. It was well worth it. The root salad was so good. I enjoyed the chicken on lentils - delish! I also tasted my son's (he's 12 and loves Chef Symon from Iron Chef) hanger steak with fries, also delish! The food was absolutely wonderful.
The desserts were to "die for". We will be going back.

say it aitnt LOLA
Went to LOLA tonight. Let me tell you one thing this is a stuffy joint. Maybe this is what you get when your chef is iron. I ordered a 8 dollar beer yes a 8 dollar beer it was awesome. So good I was gonna order bout 3 more. I was rudely told by our waitress that they were out. I was kinda upset so I kinda joked with her to see if she could check the "back" she did nothing doing. One of the stuffy suit dudes came and grabbed the glasses from out table so I started to ask him. Hell he has a jacket on he might know of a secret spot. Before i could get a quarter of my question out he said "no we are out" amazing he read my mind. no it was rude like everyone at this place down to the busboys. maybe it is me. The food was .... good one of the best steaks I have had the maple bacon icecream with french toast was great. The service was ok the attitude of the wait staff was horrible. my parties bill was 1100 dollars i was tempted to take my business elsewhere. skip it you can get good food with better service I am sure.

if you dont like symon, you wont like me
Best dining experience i have ever had; everything from the wine list to the dessert menu! I mean come on! who dosent like french toast with maple bacon ice-cream anyways? Complain about small portions? Then control yourself.....slow down.....and enjoy the meal infront of you! You want large portions, go to a buffet! Learn to appreciate what a chef does for a living! A painter dosen't just DUMP paint onto a canvas! Why should a chef PILE food on a plate?

Just a gimmick? 5/14/08
I've dined here twice, once casually (see other bar reviews, similar experience) and once with business colleagues. In the latter instance our boss ordered several big expensive bottles of wine (they do have a great list) along with cheese and charcuterie to start (which was very enjoyable), yet our service was rushed - staff blatantly ignored our request to "not rush us" and carried on like robots. The consensus of entrees was "Ehh, better than decent" and my duck was a bit overdone, but we carried on. We ommitted dessert wines and espressos (at my exec-boss's beckoning) to taxi across town to a wine bar to finish the meeting - that about sums up the experience.

Anniversary Couple
This restaurant has a great reputation-which it surely has earned. Food and atmosphere, presentation and the flavors are awesome. The whole wait staff was on top of their game and our waitress advised us and answered all of our questions. The whole experience delivered- except in one area. The only area that I would suggest an improvement is the politeness and excitement of the hostess area. Our table was ready and we were early (first time for everything and with double header baseball and basketball game going on downtown-amazing) for our reservation and we were told so. And that we had to wait until our reservation time (about 10 minutes prior they seated us, after to stood in the bar area -to packed to reach the bar to order a drink, and we wanted a bottle of wine with dinner anyways). Also when we were called to confirm our reservation- the person following up expressed no excitement or interest that I returned their call. And finally when we left- I was just handed our coats (not my husband). The total experience would have included a dose of politeness from the hostess area. The hostess started our night and ended it - and it was our Anniversary- which- we don't celebrate everyday or necessarily get a chance every year. We will hopefully return to this restaurant and do recommend it- however- I surely hope- to see a smile and someone welcoming guests in the future. The whole experience is important and the resturant was hoppin'- so why not be happy to see guests who have reservations....

Loved It! Absolutely Loved It!
The wine list was extensive and full. We enjoyed the 2006 Voss from Napa Valley. The appetizers were delicious and able to be shared - the 3 of us shared the Crab Gnocchie and Beef Cheek Perogies. The dinners were unique and very tasty. We had the Pork Chop, Rainbow Trout, and Mandarin Duck - all very delicious, we sampled each other's entrees. The desserts were also interesting: 6am Special is the best with the Carrot Cake and Warm Chocolate Cake in a close 2nd. Thank you Sam and Michael for making our fine dining night a rememberable one. WE WILL BE BACK!

Best of Cleveland
This is by far the best restaurant in Cleveland, and one of the best I've had in my extensive world travels. I am a very heavy eater, and normally takes an appetizer plus large meal to fill me up. The portions were surprisingly filling. In fact, the appetizer my wife and I ordered/ split, which was actually small for the price, wasn't necessary.

Rude bartenders, unusual food
Me and my friend showed up a little early for our reservation. We went to the bar to order drinks. The bartender ignored us for about 10 minutes (the bar was not that busy) before he told us he would be with us in a minute. He finally took our drink order and acted annoyed like he was doing us a favor by getting us drinks. Very rude. Dinner was so so. The food was not stuff we were used to eating (rabbit, animal glands, deer, etc), so we were pretty grossed out to begin with. We just wanted something like a filet or lobster, call us boring people I guess lol. So we got beet salad, meat tray, and the ribeye and told them to hold the bone marrow. The ribeye had so much fat in it my friend from out of town had to keep spitting it out. I was embarassed to have taken her there because she didn't like the food. It was disgusting and I have honestly had a better steak at Outback. The desserts were fantastic. The 6 am special and the chocolate cake were delicious and beautiful. All in all I will not be back again. Was just not impressed at all. It is a beautiful place just did not like the food or the service at the bar.

Shouldn't a bartender... tend the bar?
Two of us stopped in the other day for a drink at the bar and there were two bartenders working behind the bar, with one other couple at the bar. We sat down, right in front of one of the bartenders, who was counting money right in front of us, and said he'd be with us in a minute. We found it odd that he wouldn't even offer a wine list. A few minutes later, a group of four came over to the bar, and immediately, and the other bartender waited on them, while our bartender continued to count money. After talking about it for a minute, we actually got up and left without ordering drinks. As the bartender inquired, "Where are you going?" I responded, "Someplace that will treat us better". These bartenders apparently they thought they were doing us a favor by serving us. I have eaten there before, and the food is good, I had the Rosemary Chicken Mac and Cheese, and the desserts are decent. Portions are rather small, so you don't have to worry about having leftovers. The wine list is very extensive, but they have a surprisingly short 'by the glass' list. Atmosphere is modern and trendy.

New Lola - not worth the hype
Pros:
Funky and hip decor
Imaginative menu
Very high quality ingredients
Cons:
Very expensive for very small portions
Dishes tend to be heavy on the salt
Very noisy - hard to have conversation
