Love the Melt!!!!!
My family and I love this place!!! The atmosphere is really cool, love the menus, the local decor. The sandwiches are so good, I once went back the next day for lunch!! My favorite is the Parmageddon, but there are others just as good. The Food Network just did a show taping there, so unfortunately the wait will get even longer for a table. They are honest when you go in, they tell you an hour, and it will be every bit of an hour, but as long as you know this, it is well worth the wait. Try and go during the week or a little earlier and it isn't as long. I have only had positive experiences with the servers, the are really friendly and accomodating.

Worth the Wait??
My husband and I decided to go to Melt this evening. We arrived about 7:15 and were told it was an hour wait. We sat on a bench in-between the waiting area and the restaurant/bar area. During the first 15-20 minutes we waited, we watched as several tables finished and left. Out of the five tables that emptied, only one was filled again; four sat empty. (The one couple that did get seated during this time sat for quite a while before they were even approached by a server, we noticed.) We continued to wait, thinking that surely they would start seating people who were waiting and we would soon be seated ourselves. Not so. So we left. It was almost 8:00 as we were pulling out. We were both disappointed, as we had heard good things about Melt. However, after this experience we will not be going back.

Awesome food and really different.
The decor was really neat and the menu was really original. It took me a really long time to decide what to order, there were so many great choices. I really like that they have vegetarian options and a knowledgeable staff. I finally settled on the peanutbutter and jelly w. banana melt and it was the best sammich I have ever had. I ordered the special cheesecake for dessert and it was the second best dessert I've ever had. I also got a freedom martini and it was really tasty. I can't wait to go back and try a different sammich.

my heart didn't MELT for this place!
it is a corner bar with some clever ways to serve overpiced, mediocre sandwiches. i thought the LP covers used as menus were neat, the idea of seving soup in goodwill donated mugs kitschy, the atmosphere really is of a beer and shot neighborhood bar. sevice average, food average, atmosphere uninspired. just average.....i think a better chicken sandwich could be had at chik-fil-a for much less $$. i don't get the appeal of this place.

Don't Understand the Hype
I don't understand the hype about this place. I mean I get the ida, lots of cheese and bread and beer. I'm not 19 anymore and would like something more from a place that I'm going to eat. Also, the two times that I've eaten there the service has been terrible. One time the waitress spilled coffee on me, said, "oh snap," and walked away without even offering me a napkin or an apology.

Sandwich to the Nth power...
If you haven't visited Melt, you're missing out on a Lakewood Gem. Beer list is ridiculously good - organized by state and country. You want a sandwich that is both Huge and Flavorful? You're home - great variety, from a vegetarian portabella sandwich to spinach and egg salad to a pierogie Parma sandwich. Atmosphere is casual, with slick, tatted service.

I'll Stop the World and Melt . . . with Melt!
The name is actually Melt Bar and Grilled. This place has been a delight to visit since it opened around this time last year. They have some 30 variations on the grilled cheese sandwich, and at least 100 different beers, a decent wine list, and top shelf liquors.
The atmosphere is hip without being intimidating. Most of the staff has peircings and ink, and the menus are printed out on the back of actual record albums. The staff has generally been friendly, as has the owner, Matt Fish.
The grilled sandwiches themselves (which run from $7-$11) are HUGE. Most are sered on thick bread with great fries and coleslaw. I usually get the veggie sandwich and beg someone to help me eat it. I can't imagine how many meals one of their burgers or cheesesteaks would make!
Melt also has lighter fair--salads, soups, and plain grilled cheese sandwiches.
Everytime I go in the place many of the seats are filled. Great for the business, but not so much if you want to sit down. They did build a patio this summer, this seemed to help the seating situation a lot.
This place is definately worth trying!
