BenIhana WHO????

Akira's is the best Japanese restaurant in the Cleveland area. The service for the most part is good..but the food...ohhhh the food is awesome. Always done to perfection, the chefs are great and the atmosphere is wonderful. I always tell people to try it, and I have made Akira's one of my birthday traditions.

I was told to go to Benihana!

I went in for a great Japanese style experience. When I made some comments about the chef's un-sanitary habit(picking and wiping his nose with his fingers while cooking)and about how I did not like the way the food was cooked(overcooked) I was told by the chef to go to Benihana!! I think that was absolutely rude. And guess what...I now take my business to Benihana and have told everyone I know not to go to Akira.

Solon Sushi ROCKS!!!

I have eaten sushi all over the united states for 30 years now. I also have gone to many of the sushi restaurants in Cleveland. If I didn't live in Solon I would make the drive anyway. I am a sushimi lover and haven't eaten at the hibachi but once. Everyone seems to love the hibachi. In all the years of eating at Akira's I have never been disappointed. I am always greeted like family and never really had to wait. I must always hit the off hours, because it is usually about half full. I always get good service and fresh sushi. They are rarely out of my favorites, which I really like. I know some fish are seasonal, but they seem to have a regular stream flowing in. They have a great selection of cooked sushi and large variety of raw sushi and it is always fresh. Their rolls are always good and their creativity rates high too. I always judge a sushi place by there eel and it has been consistency good. Since I mostly eat from the raw menu I am always picky and concerned about freshness. I have never had bad food at Akira's. I especially love the baby octopus which is rare and hard to find. I could eat that all night. They have always been willing to accommodate my special wishes for things that are not on the menu. This is especially important to me and is usually what I rate the highest on my list of importance...besides freshness for health risk obviously. I have never been scared to eat sushi, even in little dives. I have to admit that I have only ever gotten bad salmon and it was is the fancy places. So you can't just the freshness based on the restaurant. you have to trust your nose and gut and look to see if there are any unusual discoloration or something unusual about the fish. Even when I did get bad salmon, it only gave me a stomach ace for a while and wasn't that big a deal. Not life threatening. So for all you who are scared to eat raw fish, you should give it a try at Akiria's. They will take good care of you. The atmosphere is nice and quiet and romantic and a nice little sushi bar too. They have a very busy lunch and dinner crowd, but the off times are much quieter. The restaurant and rest rooms are always clean and there is a very good smell when you walk in, which is VERY important to me. Overall I rank them as one of the top three sushi restaurants in Cleveland. If you haven't tried Akiria's you should!!!

Worth the wait

If you are in a rush, Akira may not be for you. If you aren't in a rush, love good sushi and quality hibachi, you will love Akira. If you are having dinner for two, I recommend splitting one of the hibachi dinners and ordering a couple of sushi rolls. The Volcano Roll is their specialty and rarely dissapoints. If you order sushi the split meal charge of $4 is usually waived. If not, ask owner Anna to waive the charge. Anna and her husband/sushi chef Hank are friendly and accomodating. Enjoy.

R U CRAZY FOR RAW FISH

You will never have better Sushi in Cleveland. I have eaten at most sushi places and this one is the best. I can sit at the Hibachi eat sushi and my kids love the sushi appetizers and chicken hibachi. You can ask for low fat hibachi and instead of a dirty look you ket steamed hibachi veggies and meat. Prices are more then fair.

Oh, NO!! Is it Japanese Food?

May be it was different if I ordered Hibachi style dish. However, I didn't care about Hibachi, I wanted to eat other Japanese dishes. However, their selection was poor. Worst of all, their Tempra was not tempra, very soggy fries. Service wasn't good either. Waitress never asked us if we were doing well. poor service, poor taste, very disappointed.

How do you say BAD SERVICE in Japanese?

There's a first for everything and tonight was the first time I ever walked out of a restaurant. My husband made reservations for our anniversary. We ordered drinks at the bar and then the hostess sat us at our table. The place wasn't even half full. At least four waitresses walked by but no one even bothered to say someone will be with you. After 20 minutes of NO ONE coming to our table we asked to sit at the Sushi Bar. After 15 minutes not one of the 4 men behind the counter ever asked us for our order. When we finally spoke up, the man behind the counter acted like we were bothering him. When we finally complained to the hostess and told her we were leaving she had the audacity to ask us to wait for our drink check. What a horrible place. No Sushi in the world can warrant that kind of service.

Japanese Surf and Turf

Akira's hibachi ribeye rocks! They serve the best quality steak. It's even better than steak I've had at some steakhouses. My parents and I also usually get sushi with our hibachi. The rolls are delicious, especially the Flats Roll. The wait sucks sometimes, but it's worth it. Akira's my favorite place for a surf and turf meal!

Northern Ohio Live Magazine

Nestled in a Solon strip mall just off Route 91 is Akira Sushi & Hibachi, which features an extensive menu of freshly prepared sushi and Japanese specialties, as well as a wide array of tantalizing traditional steak dinners. If raw fish is your thing, take a seat at the sushi bar, and watch as your order is skillfully crafted by the house sushi chef. Try the sushi omakase, in which you'll sample a section of nigiri (raw or cooked fish or vegetables placed atop seasoned sticky rice) and maki (sushi rolled with nori seaweed), served with fresh grated wasabi, pickled ginger and soy sauce. If you prefer your seafood more thoroughly cooked, please your palate with the swordfish hasami yaki, in which grilled swordfish is stuffed with lobster meat and served in a garlic-butter wine sauce.

Keep In Mind:
Rating everything 5 stars or all 1 stars is typically not very useful to others as makes you look a bit biased.

Remember, you can still visit a not so perfect place (ie, a dive joint) and still give it 5 overall stars.
