Upset bridal party

So I have been holding back on writing a review on the Estate because it really is a diamond in the ruff. It had so much potential to be something big time! When we first sat down with Nick who is the owner/chef/wedding planner raved about just how amazing this venue was. From how amazing the food, staff and atmosphere was .Now let me tell you how hard it was to get any response out of my husband whether he liked a venue or not. When we left our first meeting with Nick, my husband did NOT stop talking about the venue, that’s how much he was impressed by this place. It was almost too good to be true. The first red flag was when we found out that the $1500 "deposit fee" wasn't a deposit it was a fee you had to have to reserve your wedding date. I brushed this off because maybe i really did just misunderstand him. Second red flag was when i attempted to email Nick and had no response for a week. So, then i texted him and again no response for a week. However when I was 2 days late on paying him, he finally called wondering where it was. An when i advised him how i had been trying to get in touch with him he explained how busy he was and the best thing to do is just call. So again i just brushed it off, thinking that maybe he really was busy devoting all his time to the wedding he would be hosting that week. The third red flag was when Nick forgot about our taste testing for the wedding dinner. We showed up at our scheduled time and we was sitting around getting ready for his week vacation. This really disappointed us because we were really excited to try his "Oh so amazing" food we have heard so much about. But again Nick charmed us with some tequila said he would make up for it, so again i just brushed it off. Fast forward to the wedding day... Nick came down with gout so he wasnt going to be able to attend/host the wedding that day but he insured us that his staff is the best and we wouldnt even know he wasnt there. What BS that was. *Starters the property had dog poop and bird poop EVERYWHERE. (We were insured this would all be cleaned up the morning of the wedding. * The hall was not set up like we had asked for. There was an extra table that awkwardly took up space during the reception. ( I had even asked for them to remove it the night before during our rehearsal dinner.) * Drinks were NOT served during dinner. We were told that in between the ceremony only wine and beer would be served and then once dinner started then the bar would be open. This was not the case. Again we got some BS excuse. The staff informed us that they needed all the waiters’ to serve dinner because we had a big party and Nick wasnt around the help. An from Nick, we were told that this wasn't his policy. He waits till after dinner to serve any alcoholic beverages. (Now I know this is BS because ½ the staff was sitting around and why would we pay $25 dollars a person to drink if it was only for 1/3 of the night.) *It took almost an hour to serve cold, bland food. Turned out they ran out for food and were pulling plates off of the tables served first and re-dished it to the last of the tables that still needed food. Not to mention we had originally planned for 200 guests and wound up with 140 ish. At $65 dollars a plate id imagine there should have been more than enough food. (Not only was this evident but one of our bridal parties over heard the chef say that they ran out of food.) *Multiple guests asked for extra water and ice, an the staff ignored them and never came back. *The staff was trash talking our wedding party all night. (Multiple guests that don’t even know each other advised us of this. *The bathrooms were left un-stocked. No toilet paper or paper towels. * $150 worth of tip money for some of the vendors came up missing. (The only people in the hall where I left if were the staff. They said it must have got mixed up with the linens, but there were no linens on our personal sweetheart table.) *The officiate that he highly recommended, turned out to be his girlfriend, which we surprisingly found out during our liquid tequila dinner. I found that a little unprofessional. *Nick had explained that the beer truck had shorted our beer order, but not to worry he had plenty more for us to substitute. An OF COURSE we ran out of that too. *Nick also promised that the staff would drive any of our quests to the hotels, that way no one would drink and drive. An YET AGAIN the staff denied this and would not safely drive our guests to the hotels. *The next day when we arrived to gather our things…..some of my items were missing. My unity candle sticks, our silverware cake cutting set and misc. items. When I asked Nick for these items and explained how disappointed we were, he insured us that he would get to the bottom of all the problems and find my items. Nothing was resolved. I actually had to just show up at the estate and demand my things from a random staff member because Nick didn’t have the decency to return any of my calls or even come out to talk. All in all it is a beautiful venue and we luckily had a beautiful day but we don’t believe it was worth the $13,500 dollars that we spent. Please don’t fall for the charming bullshit that Nick feeds you and take your business elsewhere. He isn’t deserving and could really careless. I PROMISE you that!

Looks good from the outside

Had my wedding here last September. I should've known it was going to be bad when the owner forgot about the appointment for the florist to have a walk through. This was followed up by my entire wedding party showing up for out REHEARSAL the day before our wedding and again, the owner was a no show. We had no rehearsal for my wedding. The next day (the wedding) went on like this: there was dog poop all over the yard, the inside of the house smelled of cat urine so badly that my photographer hunted down the female owner to complain, the female owner came into the house and lit candles, she didn't greet any of usand acted like we were a burden there. The procession into the wedding was a mess (because of no rehearsal) and we didn't know where to exit to afterwards. The food was amazing except all my tables were taking food from one another because they were out. When this was brought up in a discussion the next day, I was told there had been a lot of food left in the kitchen and we should've asked staff to be bringing it out. All in all, I'd much rather of had a hillbilly wedding in my back yard and saved myself a ton of money.

Valentines Dinner 2014 What an Amazing place!

Wonderful surprise my husband found about 35 minutes from our home - the atmosphere was delightful and the hostess greeted us promptly - there was a small crowd all with their own private tables and décor was delightful. We added a "wine flight" at the last minute and though she wasn't sure she could accommodate us ended up being able to - thanks! The oyster - was amazing according to my husband (don't care for) fresh caviar on top which was a delight and fresh. 2nd course was an amazing Cauliflower Soup - WOW! 3rd course was a salad that was insanity - the best salad I have ever had - pear, mixed greens, apple, blood oranges, DUCK!!!! and red raspberry preserves that was frigging an ideal combination 4th course choice of salmon or filet mignon and I picked the meat - it was in oyster sauce and carrots and potatoes to also die for - could have used more oyster sauce but that was okay I loved it - great temp and doneness. final course was choc soufflé cookie heart and strawberries and whip crème=wow! best dessert ever-choc soufflé done perfectly, cookie amazing not dry as some sugar cookies are. Minor complaint - I kept my coat as it was about 65 in the restaurant - and cold. Realized I would have liked coffee with dessert - but forgot to ask and they didn't offer. Wine Flight is extra - but enough for sharing and worth the experience. Wine with every course. I would go back again. And we didn't even see the grounds due to 12 inches of snow, but ambiance is great.

Best Anniversary Dinner Ever!

We attended the Valentines day dinner at Coffee Creek Estate and it was also our Anniversary and we both agreed it was the most enjoyable dinning experience we have ever had. Both Giovanna and Nick were gracious and interesting hosts, the ambiance was quiet and romantic, the staff was professional and friendly and the food, wine pairings and presentation were amazing. Highest Recommendation!

Rude Last Minute Cancellation

I have visited this restaurant in the past and had "ok" experience. Agree with Terry Gilbert's review above. (DO NOT try to eat here if you are looking for low fat/sodium/sugar food. They are not at all accommodating.) But the small, intimate atmosphere made me want to return so I booked a reservation for Valentines Day online. 48 Hours before Valentines Day, the owner called me to tell me no one is seating people ON Valentines Day in restaurants this year because it is a Thursday, and she changed my reservation to the following Saturday (when I would be out of town), without even speaking with me directly. I called and said she could cancel altogether. Going to John Palmer's in Concord instead.

Europe on a budget

Had dinner last night, I was so impressed! All the ingrediants were fresh and locally grown. The corn soup was excellent, the salad with walnuts and apples to die for. The steak was perfectly cooked, the side of pureed squash was tasty.Worth the trip !

A rare find in a beautiful setting

Excellent food in a beautiful setting. We found this gem of a restaurant near our summer house and have brought many friends here. Coffee Creek is high end and very interesting. Complete with beautiful grounds, incredible art and architecture plus a very special menu and ghosts. Well worth the drive.

very disappointing

This old victorian house refitted as a resataurant is charming and well appointed with eclectic art and antiques. But as to the food, it is no way worth the visit. The prix fixe menu is $45 but if you want scampi's or Colorado rack of lamb there is a "supplement" of $10 or $15. Why have a prix fixe if you're going to vary the prices? The soup comes in an a tea cup for sipping ( no silverware on the table ). The lobster bisque had only a hint of lobster - was mostly cream. The arugula salad wasn't bad but was garnished with of all things - a fried egg. Very wierd. The sirloin steak was what you'd expect a sirloin steak no tastier than what you'd get an Outback - but with Risotto, and a very strange corn souffle - which no one at our table of six bothered with. As for dessert, the choice was between 2 puddings ( why not a cheescake, or somthing you could sink your teeth into . The creme brulee - tasteless and lacking sweetness. The food was presented well, but if it doesn't satisfy, what's the point? Coffe, brewed in a press was nice, but they had the gaul to charge for it - when you consider the $417 bill for 6 people. I applaud the owners for trying this dining "experiment" in the poorest counties of Ohio, but I doubt if it will work when you can't deliver a memorable experience.

Outstanding and Delicious

I am the type of person who has alaways been a steak and potato kind of guy. Well at the recommendation of a friend of mine my wife and daughters decided to give it a try. We went the whole enchillada. wine tasting atc.I was pleasantly surprised by both the quality of food and the way we were waited on by both our waiter and chef. I highly recommend this restaurant and definitely intend to revisit. Paul Jonke
