I've been here twice and won't go back. First time was about four years ago and a large family party was delighted with the atmosphere and the food. Portions then were huge and the bruschetta was so delicious I remembered it fondly! Then a few months ago I took a large group of friends there for a special dinner. I was mortified - it was SO BAD. The food was awful. Spaghetti sauce was very uninspired - like watered down ketchup. I couldn't finish my lasagna, it was so runny and tasteless. Overpriced and poorly prepared. "C Minus"

tacky and bad food, what a great combo?August 24, 2007

You have to walk through part of the kitchen and downstairs to get to the dining area. Bad start. There are just the tackiest pictures everywhere, there isn't an empty surface. That just made me feel dirty, you know that they cannot possibly dust all that stuff. I guess, one could argue that the pictures had some kitsch value, but they just seem to be dust/dirt accumulation spots to me. Unfortunately, the people we were dining with enjoy plain food, so we had spaghetti and meatballs. The serving was large, the meatballs were massive. Unfortunately, the food was really bland. The spaghetti sauce tasted like ketchup and the meatballs were simply balls of meat without any seasoning. My husband and I hated this place. It was certainly not Italian food; I would call it Italian-style hospital food. Very disappointing. I must be fair and say that the other couple we dined with loved this place. The visit regularly. However, the couple also really likes plain food. So, if you enjoy Italian food, real Italian food, skip this place. If you like the idea of Italian food, and don't mind having all the other diners walking through the kitchen where you're food is being prepared, go and stop in.

I went there for lunch and was very impressed with all the decorations and walked around looking at everything for about an hour. I thought for the amount of food we received the price was fair. We asked to be seated in the only booth in the kitchen and watched the chef cook the food. The place was very clean except there was a puddle of water on the floor by our booth. The house dressing on the salad was very good and the chicken parm was excellent. The sauce was sweet and tasty and the spagetti needed more sauce. I was surprised at how big the lunch portions were. The waitress and the manager were great and alway made sure our drinks were full and that we were happy. I plan on going back soon.

Went for lunch. The pan-seared mozzarella was tasty but a bit burnt. Lasagna was average with this SOUR marinara sauce we scraped off to eat it. Pizza was GREAT, but pricy. Kids Mac'nCheese was reported 'great' by 5 year old. Manager came by to check before we realized what they'd served up.

We dined there when it first opened, Im still salty over the quality of food along with the price. The veal Marsala was so sweet ,I swear they used pancake syrup to make up the sause. If you go and are disappointed, youve been warned.

Firstly, the decor was fantastic! You don't know where to look, there are so many nick-naks and decorations. However the food was less than expected. It was a little pricey for the amount and quality. Perhaps it was just the item we ordered (maybe some of the other dishes are better), but we didn't think it tasted that great. I have been to much better italian restaurants (authentic ones, NOT olive garden, pleeeease!), with plain decor, but fantastic food. So if you want to go to an italian restaurant with charm and atmosphere, then go here (kids would love it), but if it's for the food, I would go somewhere else. On the up side, the waiter was VERY good, and the place looked clean.

Buca di Beppo operates under the general principle that more is better: more people, more noise, more decorations and, most important, more food. The portions at this Italian chain are huge and are served family-style; waiters bob and weave through themed dining areas such as the Sinatra Room and the Pope Room while carrying dishes positively overflowing with food. Antipasti include mussels marinara and some of the most deliciously pungent garlic around; for the main course, choose among favorites such as eggplant Parmigiana, veal limone and chicken saltimbocca. Sides include spaghetti, linguine, ravioli and macaroni, as well as green beans, roasted vegetables and garlic mashed potatoes. If you're still hungry - and at this point, frankly, you shouldn't be - order some spumoni, cannoli or tiramisu. You can start that diet tomorrow.

If your looking to feed a large family then this is your place; all of the food is served family style. So be careful of what you order because you get a LOT of food. The prices arent too easy on your wallet, but the atmosphere is well worth it. The service is usually pretty good unless the wait staff is under staffed on busy nights.
