If Asian Indians eat here how bad can it be?
We dine here a couple times a year. The food has always been first rate and comparable to the east side location. The best Indian food I've ever had was in London. Care Tandoor is not in that class but certainly respectable.

Horrific! Way too Expense for Bad Food
How disappointed I was with the Indian Food I got last week. I ordered 2 vegetarian meals and 1 appetizer and it was close to $40.. the kicker was the food terrible. There was way too much oil in the Dal. The Chic Peas were hard. The vegetable pakora was fried onion rings -- and way too greasy! I will never eat here again.

Indian Indulgence with flair : )
The prices are a tiny bit high (expect to pay about 50-60 bucks for two w/ drinks), so my husband and I go when we have a buy one get one free coupon. Great atmosphere, sorta romantic with a touch of NYC-dining-chic (dim lighting, starched red table cloths, beautiful wall carvings). The wait staff is friendly and mostly American but they offer suggestions when they can. The food is great, just don't order any fancy cocktails. There's no real bartenders so you might end up with a science project in a glass.

Yay Ethnic Eats on the West Side!
I am so happy that Cafe Tandoor opened up in Westlake. There is a total lack of anything on the west side that hasn't been MaxN'TGIApplebee'd to death - this is a major addition for anyone who doesn't think chain food is the ultimate in delicious dining. Everything I've had here is good, plus they do reasonably fast take out when you order ahead. The dine-in option is a little on the slow side but very cordial in my experience.

Very pleasant experience
I had a craving for Indian food, so my boyfriend took me to Cafe Tandoor. It's a gorgeous atmosphere with comfortable seating.
We had nan, chicken tikka, and chicken tikka masala. Everything was *so* good, it even surprised my boyfriend! (I don't think he had been into the idea of Indian food when I had first proposed it)
To finish it off, we shared a bowl of kheer, the basmati rice pudding. It was so creamy and had a lot of flavors going on. Our experience was positive and the food arrived in a timely fashion. I see other reviews who did not agree and I hope that they try it again!

Americanized food, awful service
I brought my sister to this restaurant because we were craving authentic Indian food. The servers are mostly American, which is fine, but they weren't familiar with the dishes. Most of the dishes were substituted with Americanized ingredients, and it wasn't much to speak of. The service was terrible and we waited what seemed like forever for our meals and were not offered drink refills. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

The place to go if you don't know Indian food
My brother-in-law, a very fussy eater, was about to take a business trip to Bombay (Mumbai) so we took him to Cafe Tandoor to try some Indian food. Besides myself, my two daughters, ages 8 and 5, were the only people in our party who had every eaten there.
We told the waiter why we were there and she explained the menu and how the food is traditionally consumed. We ordered and the food was a huge hit.
Just a note, you can get the food hot, but resist. The hot sauce, and keep in mind I love hot food, is EXTREMELY HOT! Literally, a drop is all you need. My brother-in-law used a spoonful and it took a while to put his hair out. (OK, it's not quite that bad, but it is very hot.)
The service was great. They were friendly, fast, helpful and were good to the kids.
Definely a restaurant not to be missed.

Satisfactory
I have only ordered carry-out from Cafe Tandoor and overall I have been satisfied with the quality of the food. My only disappointment has been the chicken tikka massala. This is a dish I have had in many Indian restaurants and Cafe Tandoor's version was the most disappointing one. Their butter chicken is a good alternative.

Like my second kitchen!
I come to this restaurant frequently with my 4 kids. The food is always good and tasty. How many kids can you say started eating with spicy indian food! The best are the seekh kebabs, cut small with extra spice on top. Try the Muglai Shorwa (lentil soup) with green chutney (also spicy) mixed in.

Great Food, so-so service
The food is always great! The service tends to be slow - so order an appetizer. The lamb dishes are great, the kids love tandoori chicken and the garlic nan is to die for! The yogurt drinks, non-alcoholic are wonderful, the kids just love them. Order several items, but do not be in a hurry.

Excellent Indian food
I just saw that someone apparently had a problem ordering extra rice at Cafe Tandoor and I feel I have to add my two cents because I go to this restaurant all the time and order extra rice every time and not once have I had a problem doing that. I have been to many Indian restaurants and in my opinion this one is the best. The food is exceptional and I have never had a problem with the service.

Horrible service!
The service there is awful! Our party asked for extra rice and the manager indicated we couldn't have more rice. We were okay with paying extra, but the manager didn't even mention an extra charge. It's like survivor; here's the only supply of rice with the meal, make the best of it. Other situations have been just plain bad attitude from the employees. Hope you have good company going with you to overlook the jerks working there.
