Connoisseurs and conversation
As you arrive, one cannot help but notice the modest restoration of this classic building in downtown Willoughby. The genuine tin ceiling is striking. The place has 2 rooms, and the second one is often less than half-full. Our arrival was at 5:30pm and the place already had a medium throng of patrons; some “after work”, and some “pre-dinner”. Our sommelier/bar-tender greeted us with a kind attentive smile as we settled at the bar. The wine list is impressive; especially since the variety of fine wines available by the glass is unsurpassed in Cleveland. The wine-preserving-gas aerosol was happily sighted just behind the bar (so that’s how they can do the by-the-glass thing!). The atmosphere is subtle. The place seems to somehow muffle the sound of the many people talking. Your group will be able to converse without shouting or ear-cupping. “By the glass”, my wife selected the Pinot Grigio, I decided on a Merlot. Both were delicious. An appetizer and desert menu increases your options to experience one of the most charming places in town.
