Don't be tricked by the high reviews on here!

I love Hibachi restaurants and have been to several in the Cleveland area (both east and west sides). We ventured over to Daishin because our usual favorite place had an unusually long wait and we found a lot of good reviews of this place online. Daishin got us in right away, which was great! Pros: No wait Very friendly service Great atmosphere Vegetables Cons: Boring Hibachi cook Bathrooms Lag time in-between each part of Hibachi dinner Price($2/plate more expensive than our usual place) Hibachi chicken-THE WORST Hibachi chicken I have ever had. The vegetables were great but weren't enough to make up for the dried out, tasteless chicken and lackluster rice I will never return to Daishin, and I would advise against anyone else going there.

Why are all you hating on daishin? Its Great

The food was great. We always get great service. Though it is a bit pricy and the service and bathrooms may not be all that, its a great family-fun restaurant with a good atmosphere. The staff was friendly and for those who say the food was bad, why are you ordering pork and beef at a japanese restaurant eat seafood next time! I recommend going anytime!

Thanks Daishin for such a wonderful food and service...

I went with my family to Daisin to have my Kid birthday party and sat in Hibachi table. The food was great and especially their yum yum sauce was so good. We had some sushi as an appetizer and was really good. Good service, good food ....I am planning to take my family again in christmas...It was our first time over there but really enjoyed.

NOT ALL THAT!

I went with a friend who bragged about how good it was, but I didn't think it was all that! We went on a Wednesday and there weren't many people. We were the only ones at our table which was nice but the salad was iceburg and the dressing kind of tasted like thousand Island. I thought it was alittle pricey and I didn't think the quality of food was worth it. Doesn't come close to Benihana's. I have to admitt my friend was really enjoying his meal, but I didn't think it was all of that! Have no desire to go back.

A Slam to Japanese Food

Let me first start out with that I used to live in Japan and have a knowledge of Japanese food. With that said, I have more knowledge of Japanese food than the owner of this restaurant. Although, hibachi is more of an American entertainment idea than Japanese, the food generally is similar to that of food served in Japan. Taste: The food served here is tasteless and not fresh! You can tell by the meat (fish, chicken, and other red meats). The meat was brown before it came out - aka not fresh! The tuna that we ordered was not red nor pink. The salads were made with iceberg lettuce and a watery dressing - I believe it was supposed to be a ginger dressing. The miso soup was terrible! It was not only completely watered down but it was at least a few days old. I eat miso soup on a normal basis, but I couldn't eat this one since it was terrible. The "hibachi" food once it was cooked was tasteless and one could tell the meat has been frozen and de-thawed by color and taste. The sauces were quite strange... Price: Way over priced! The food was terrible and not fresh. In addition, the entertainment wasn't there... One usually pays for entertainment with the higher price but here one is paying for, well, I'm not really sure... the name? Entertainment: The "chefs" were not entertaining, ours didn't even know how to do a lot of the different normal "hibachi tricks". The ambiance was even less than entertaining - a few items from Japan just thrown around doesn't make a restaurant Japanese. Cleanliness: I can't believe that this place hasn't been shut down! It is the most disgusting restaurant that I have seen in a long time - and I am including all the third-world countries that I have traveled to on vacation and work. I would never tell a friend nor enemy to go here.

Great Meal

We took two of our kids out for a nice dinner, They enjoyed the whole experience. One of our daughters even tried the sword fish which was excellent. They enjoyed trying to catch a piece of chicken when the cook was finished, and tossed a piece in the air for everyone at the table. The whole experience was very enjoyable, and the food was great!

Wonderful quiet celebration

Went to Daishin in North Olmsted for our anniversary dinner and had a wonderful time! We went early, a bit before 4pm on Saturday and it was not crowded at all. No obnoxious tv's blaring different things. Nice music. Chef (Joe) was very polite and entertaining. Food was amazing! Love that yum yum sauce! And the chef was very careful about my spouses shrimp allergy, since I decided to get shrimp. All around good experience.

WOW...I HAVE NEVER HAD A BAD EXPERIANCE THERE! Actually there will be 5 of us attending tonight and i cant wait!!!!!! Yes it is just a LITTLE expensive and yes you do wait for the chef because they are hoping the table will fill up. So if your gonna go then dont go starving just be hungry enough to enjoy yourself and have a few drinks and talk before you eat. It is a perfect place for a date with your husband or family and friends.

Spectacular!

My husband and I dine here quite often. The Sushi Bar is our favorite but we also order off the menu and sit at the Hibachi table. We are going to celebrate my mother-in-law's 50th Birthday there with the whole family! It has recently went under new ownership, last year or so, but the quality of food and service did not parrish.

Spare your colon and your wallet -- avoid this place.

While the service is good at this restaurant, you'll be ripped off when it comes to the quality of the food vice what you're paying for it. My wife and I dined last week, and we were very disappointed. The gyoza are good; our salads were store-bought greens (iceberg lettuce plus shredded red cabbage and carrots) with a small amount of watery dressing. The miso soup was so-so. I had beef yakisoba that was floating on a sea of oil and had virtually no taste; my wife had the ginger pork and received a very small portion of flavorless, over-cooked chunks of meat. It's obvious to me that the cooking staff are hacks who have no idea as to what the food should actually taste like. A proper Japanese restaurant cares about its product and is delicious. Daishin is neither. Save your cash by avoiding this place.

I would reccomend this place to anyone! The food is amazing, the portions are big, the price is decent, and the service is good. Everytime I've visited Daishin I have never had to wait for a table. You always get seated right away. The food is to die for. Just an overall good place to go. Definetly a great restaurant.

Don't waste your money!

I went to Daishin in No. Olmsted last Saturday and our whole experience was bad. From the service to the food. First...we waited about 15 minutes at our table before anyone even approached us. Then it took another 15 minutes for us to get our drinks. The chef eventually appeared and it must have been his first night working. He had no idea what he was doing. He was super slow and NOT entertaining at all. Then he didn't have enough food for what the table ordered and had to send someone back to get more shrimp. Then we had to wait for that. Once the food was finally done it was pretty tasteless and the portions were not very big for the price (over $20 for each of our entrees). I called the manager recently to give him a chance to make up for our bad experience and he didn't want to do much for us. We won't be back...and if you're smart you won't go either. There are much better Japanese restaurants around Cleveland!!

Great food and sushi

This hibachi restaurant is great for a nice night out. It is fun and the food is great. The atmosphere is great and the service is adequate. I met my lawyer for sushi there. Imagine a shark eating raw fish.
