The Pink Lady and the Pink Squirrel
The perfect location of the restaurant in a close proximity to hotels and the freeway is perfect. A gold mine! I finally found a restaurant that not only has friendly, prompt professional service, high quality food and great ambiance on the East side of town. To add a special bonus, they also serve a drink most restaurants can't make - The Pink Lady, or the Pink Squirrel. I absolutely loved the lobster bisque. The base was smooth and flavorful, while the lobster was of a noticeable and comfortable bitesize pieces. The butter with green pesto was a new, but pleasant, surprise. The bread was very warm and soft. The enjoyable scallops, butternut squash and aspragus were both fresh and well seasoned. The lemon almond cake was scrumptious! My father enjoyed the Christopher Steak I purchased for him. He took one bite and immediately knew the meal was from a high-end establishment. I got what I paid for and more. How refreshing! I will be back. Delmonico's is a highly recommended restaurant.

A little expensive but very good
I have been here several times and to their Cabin Club restaurant (which is my absolute favorite) I love the bacon wrapped raspberry shrimp and have been trying to perfect at home for about 15 years with no luck...the oysters were fantastic..nice patio and wonderful steaks... I have never been dispointed..I just wish I could win the lottery so I could eat there more often.

Menu was overpriced and of poor quality
Walked in the door and were suprised by how amazingly elegant the place looked inside given it's plain exterior. It was clean, well organized seating, and beautifully decorated. Seating was rapid but the service was painfully slow despite not being busy. I got a Coca-Cola and my date ordered a Rum and Cola. We both simultaneously realized that the coke was flat. The waitress (slowly but surely) replaced our drinks with the same flat colas we were served before. Completely mystified we both just decided to switch to ice teas rather than sit around while they "fixed the problem". The teas which weren't much better had a wierd bitterness about it. The dinner rolls served were bland and unheated. Neither of us even bothered after the first bite. Something I would expect from a Pillsbury tube. Dinner salads were pretty average nothing remarkable. Didn't see anything even slightly appealing on the appetizer menu (which was recently changed so we were told) so we didn't get one which was a bummer. We both got steaks for the main course because we read other reviews about how good they did steaks here. I got medium rare and she got medium well. They were both served cooked to the same degree tough, over-cooked, and a little high in fat content. Virtually tasteless. After striking out so many times we opted not to even risk getting a desert here and to leave early in hopes of salvaging the night. Paid the bill which had somehow breached the $100 mark and left as fast as we entered. By far the worst experience for the money I've ever had in Cleveland and THAT'S really saying something. I feel like we were robbed of both our time and money. Should have gone to Damon's, Bonefish, or even Applebees just down the street and got a decent meal and saved $40.

Oh My'Lanta!!
My boyfriend and I went to Delmonico's in Independence to celebrate the anniversary of our first date. It was the very best service I have ever recieved at a restraunt before. From the minute we walked in the door, I felt like royalty, they immediate took out coats, our table was ready with in 2 mins after arriving, everything made for a very special and romatic evening. The ribeye was THE BEST steak I have ever eaten, and did I mention the dinner rolls?? They were so good. I will definately go back!!

Nice staff and good food
I work very close to Delmonico's and frequent it for lunch and occasional dinners. I think the above reviewers are the type that only decided to post a review because they were upset about something. The food here is great. The staff is very helpful - a busboy will gladly get you anything you need, they all demonstrate a sense of accountability. Several hostesses and servers make the effort and say hello with my name. I make reservations for 2 all the time, not sure about the above nonsense.

Fair enough?
The ribeye I had here was superior, perfect medium. Halibut was not fresh. Our poor server knew nothing about wine, brought the wrong vintage and became flustered - thankfully '05 is better than many '04s. Mediocrity - it is what it is.

Delectible Delmonicos
An excellent choice for our early Saturday dining experience. The steaks were superb and the side dishes were excellent. The service was impeccable. Very accomodating. Warm and inviting place to share with friends and family.

A simply superior restaurant
I've dined at Delmonico's several times, both during business functions (in the private party room) and with family. The steak is the best in Cleveland, hands down - try the Delmonico ribeye! Service is always prompt and professional, but also personable. The servers know their wine too, as we've had some EXCELLENT wines in the $50-$70 range. At most fine-dining establishments in Cleveland, you feel as though your being sold to - not so here. They serve a superior product and sincerely want you to enjoy your experience. If you stay in Independence on business, do yourself a favor and stop in. In reference to an earlier post, they accept reservations for 1 or more, not 5 or more.

Pleasure for a butcher's son
My late father was a butcher, so I know meat. My wife and I had 2 of the finest steaks we've had in a long time at Delmonico's. We arrived on a Saturady night, without reservations, and with a stated mission -- need to be at Playhouse Square in an hour. They were very accomodating, the service was excellent, and the steaks very great. I had the blackened bleu cheese ribeye and my wife had the sirloin. Now boneless sirloin is usually served as a "flat steak", but Delmonico's was a thicker cut - like a filet - and was flavorful and juicy. Looking forward to a return visit when we can linger and enjoy the decor.

Pricy, but 1st class service and food
I do not have a clue what the previous two posters were talking about---if they went to this Independence restaurant (maybe the went to the Delmonico's downtown--a different one). Firstly, I have made reservations for my wife and I only on three separate occassions with absolutely no problem (and on weekends all). Secondly, the service was polished and professional (though it is deliberately paced--not slow, but deliberate) Third, the food ( I had the mussels appetizer and the filet mignon) was wonderful. The prices ARE steep, but they are in line with Morton's, Ruth's Chris and similar high-end steak places throughout town.

Good but not customer friendly
I like the place. The food isgood. What I don't like about it is theire rules. They don't even make a pretence of being customer friendly.
Firstly, they don't take reservations for less than 5 people. Over that, if you go there, they will not give you the estimated wait time. I have been to quite of a lot of high end restaurants and I have never seen such rules.
Needless to say they have no clue of customer service.
I would recommend Lock keepers a few blocks away over this any day.

Delmonico's Independence
I have a strip steak which was awful. The meat was tough and the steak had no flavor. The service was terrible. Waiter was rude and serving was very slow. The person with me ordered a filet which was average. Pricing - every expensive for poor quality. Very, very disappointed. It is a beautiful restaurant too bad the food and service are so bad.
