It's the BOMB !!

Wonderful dining experience with very friendly staff. Our dinners were served to perfection!! definately the best steak the I have ever had!! The rstaurant itself oozes with character as you step back in time to a place from long ago. Spinach was freash and delightful, as was every entree that was served. Definately worth every penny spent!! Treat yourself to a fine dining experiance at a fair price!!! Thank You Diamond Grill for providing a wonderful dining opportunity.

It's the best

I don't know where Shelly from Tampa or Kent guy are coming from as we have a son who has a fabulous restaurant in Cleveland, so we know good food and service and we often drive to Akron (35 miles away) to eat at the Diamond Grill. It is always great! Those spiteful reviews should be removed at best or ignored at the least.

THE WORST!!

On a recent trip to Akron we had the misfortune to go to dinner here!!! Not one thing had any seasoning on it including the steaks! When we complained about the asparagus, we were informed that it is frozen!!!! Really? It was replaced by non seasoned, but fresh spinach. The only thing it had on it was the water it was boiled in!! Our steaks we over cooked with one having to be returned it was so over done!! I was so disappointed with our entire meal! It was so bad that we actually had to laugh! A good laugh was had by all when our server used her pepper grinder not only on our food, but on the table and in our laps as well ! A real steak house is here in Tampa, Berns. This one was the most overrated mess I have ever had!!

Wonderful service and Awesome food!! Loved the fireworks that came on my Birthday Surprise Sundae.... Nice... Parents had a wonderful time too.... Brought back wonderful childhood memories for them when their mom was a waitress there in the mid 1950's ;0) Thanks so very much to all who served!!

Move over Burns and Peter Lugar - Diamond Grille is teh Best!

I'm from Akron, OH. I have been eating at steakhouses all over the US for years including Burns in Tampa, Peter Lugar in NYC, Ruth's Chris, Mortons, S&W, etc. No one compares to the Diamond Grille. From the appys, sides, cocktails to the main event of beef or seafood, it is the best. If you want ambiance, art work, fancy servers you will be disapponted. If you like rustic, old-school and phenominal food try the Diamond Grille. Notice: They don't take CCs.

AUTHENTIC HOSPITALITY AND CLASSIC FOOD, SERVED WITH A SMILE!

Although we live in Mentor Ohio and must dive for an hour to get to this unique eatery, it is ALWAYS worth the effort! This is one of our special places that we save for our own pleasure. The atmosphere is truly one of a kind; it's as if time stood still in the mid 1960's. The food is incredible and it is delicious each and every time! Treat yourself and come to The Diamond Grille; it will be a memory you'll never forget.

Long ago in Akron!

Once lived in Canton and I would take friends/dates to The Grill. Do not remember how I found the place, but, it was the BEST STEAKHOUSE I ever was in. I live in Carlsbad,California now & yearn for such a place. The owner was alway's very plesant & made sure I was taken care of and wanted to be sure that I was satified with the food & service. Best Strip steak ever! Jeremy T. Argent. jargent@sbcglobal.net

Want to waste a hundred bucks! Eat here and get angry.

Most over-rated dining experience of my life. The worst value I have ever experienced from a restaurant. Our menu: one glass of red wine, one gin and tonic, bread, two salads, crab cocktail appetizer ($12), rib eye steak entree with baked potato ($35), and a sirloin patty with baked potato entree ($18). Where to begin? The bread was literally sliced bread you would buy from a supermarket to make a child's ham sandwich. I'm not kidding... it might have been Wonderbread. The salads were decent and perhaps slightly above average. The rib eye (did I mention it was $35) was fatty, with some gristle, and had basically no flavor. The sirloin was nothing more than a large patty of ground beef surrounded by a dozen mushrooms. The baked potato was also no better than average. The baked potato at Red Lobster is much better than what we were served! By the time it was over, we paid $105 dollars for the most overpriced meal of my life. The lack of ambiance (no seats cushions in our wooden booth) in this restaurant that hasn't seen an update since 1975 could be overlooked if the food was as advertised. You may read reviews that state "one of the best steakhouses in the country" or "best place to eat in Akron." I have NEVER in my life been so disappointed that I felt the need to share my experience with the public. Congratulations, Diamond Grill, you did it.

A Diamond In The Rough

Don't be fooled by this restaurants exterior appearance...if you do you'll miss out on a truly exceptional experience. My first experience was in my youth and it was such a treat!! Luckily, my husband reintroduced me when we were newly engaged and I've been hooked ever since! I suggest the Royal Filet-Medium Rare(always done to perfection)w/ crumbled blue cheese, you will not be disappointed! Do yourself a favor and visit the DG for your next special occasion or just to make any night special.

Excellence in the Rubber City

I always laugh when I read the ads on the airplane magazines for the countrys top 10 steak houses....I have been all over the country and eaten at most of these so called gems....One that shows up on the list and deservedly so it St Elmos in indy and one that never shows up but is just as great is the Diamond Grille in Akron.....The owners Nick and Ted have kept the hghest level of quality, tast and tradition for manymany years. You cant beat the Porterhouse, willies fries and thoir cocktails

I've been stripping at the Diamond Grill for years.

My dad started me on my dining experience there decades ago and I have never been disappointed with the food. I must admit that I've never varied my selection..always the strip, medium and the famous homefries....why mess with perfection? When dining at Johnny Bench's old "Precinct" Steak House in Cincinnati we were delighted to see their recommendation on the menu to visit the Diamond Grill in Akron. We had dinner at the Diamond Grill again today for our daughter's 45th birthday and it was as great as always. They no longer have the rum raisin ice cream that Dad loved but the luscious chocolate raspberry won't leave you unhappy.

We'll be back!

We took friends here last Saturday night - party of six. We made reservations and they were ready for us on arrival, although they were patient enough to let us have drinks at the bar while waiting for the rest of our party. We did not feel rushed, and all the staff (bartenders, waitress and owner) made us feel welcome. Chris, our waitress who has been working at Diamond Grill for 15 years was ideal. She made recommendations, timed the delivery of each course to perfection, kept the wine glasses filled, etc... The food was spectacular. Among us we had Royal Cut Strips, Filet Mignon, Swordfish, and Lobster Tail. Everyone was delighted with their entree. The Willie Fries and Home Fries were fantastic, salads were fresh. The mushrooms were great - we were disappointed that they were out of grilled hot peppers - hopefully we will get to try them next time. The decor is quaint, a step back in time... but we were there 2 1/2 hours, where else can one go and linger over a nice meal? Certainly not at the chain restaurants. Our guests were delighted with the evening/Diamond Grill experience.

Steak to Die For

Try the strip steak. Truly - it's all I get and I've come here for more than 20 years. Get the home fries. Share them with your mate. My husband gets the fish and he loves it (halibut, grilled) - but I love the strip. Great baked onions. Decor - dated and I love it. No changes here - Comfortable atmosphere- you don't have to dress up, but why not, give the place some class.

Northern Ohio Live Magazine

Housed in a lone, inconspicuous building in downtown Akron, the Diamond Grille defies its outward modesty by offering a fine-dining experience. Its interior is elegantly simple, allowing the focus to rest on the consistently well-prepared dishes. Steak remains the entree for which patrons keep returning, and the rib eye long-bone is a flavorful, juicy addition to the steak menu. The Diamond Grille cuts its own meat and filets its own fish; this freshness is evidenced in the pan-fried salmon, which is nothing short of succulent. Start the meal with one of several seafood appetizers - such as scampies, herring in sour cream or fresh shrimp cocktail - and be sure to end it with the chocolate martini.
