I was happy to see this place open again!!

The cost has gone up. (everything has gone up) The portions smaller (everywhere else too) The food was very good!!! We forgot how good it was. The meat sick was very small, but my husbands was good size (maybe half fell off) The waitress was not very friendly but it looked busy. I liked the old place better. That's the way of the world.

Change is Not always Good

We have been going to Dragon Gate for many, many years and have been very disappointed with the food and service ever since they moved. Portions are smaller, prices went up. But what really irked me was the last time we were there & I wanted to take my leftover Wonton Soup home in a plastic container instead of the paper one they gave me before! and the Waitress had a pained look on her face & said she would have to charge me a quarter! It's not the price, but the principal of the thing that really bothered me. I don't think we will be going back anytime soon. It's not the same place anymore.

Chinese Food Heaven!!!!!!!

I have been going to Dragon Gate for 20+ years. I was so sad when they closed, but I am so happy they are in a new location. I recently visited Beijing and I have to say the food at Dragon Gate really tastes like what is served in the restaurants in China. The Hong Kong Chicken, Sweet and Sour Pork/Chicken, and Wonton Soup are all fantastic. The atmosphere reminds me of my trip and it is much more appealing than the old location. I would eat at Dragon Gate everyday if it was closer to my house - my son and I definately love our special trips to enjoy Dragon Gates food, service and great atmosphere. A must try restaurant!!!!!!!

I am also one that LOVED their food and was very excited when they reopened. BUT, they are now on my list of not-so-good Chinese food. Not happy with the food, at all. Like the others have said...the prices went up, portion size decreased and the food is not even close to what they made before :( Very disappointed!

Overpriced Chincy Portions

I've enjoyed the take-out from from Dragon Gate for many years when they were located on Brookpark. I tried take-out again from their new location, but was disappointed. For one thing the prices went up $2.00 on just about everything. To make things worse, the portion sizes got smaller. They don't even fill up the containers for a full quart serving. No value for the money anymore. Not worth the trip for another visit. Sorry.

AINT LIKE IT USE TO BE

I was very excited since I had the flu for a week and didnt feel like eating til now. So I thought I would treat myself to Dragon gate since it was my favorite chinese food. Their general Tso's is the best. OOH cants wait. Or should I say was the best. The rice wasnt as good and the wonton soup was missing the onions that was always generously floating on top. Their teriyaki beef stick was half the size and the subgum shrimp was shrimp and celery only. Something definitely changed. I can understand the smaller portions due to the economy ect. however I feel they must have a new chef, management or something. Its definitely not the Dragon Gate I use to go for many years. I dont think Ill be back and for this Im sorry. ps MY HUSBAND FELT THE SAME.

Something different

I have been back once since they reopened and they are doing something different with the sweet and sour chicken, General Tso's chicken and the orange chicken. The batter is different I think but I do not care for it as I use to. I wish they would go back to the old way of making it. The rest of the food was excellent as usual.

I tried other restaurants when Dragon Gate was closed and none compared. So many places have the same old frozen egg rolls and tasteless rice. Dragon Gate has the best egg rolls that you have ever tasted, delicious Won Ton soup, and there is an entre for every taste. I personally love the Hong Kong chicken, Shrimp Subgum Chow Mein, Mongolian Beef, Szechuan Beef, and the Sweet and Sour chicken. The batter they use for their fried meats is light, crispy and delicious. In addition to the fabulous food they have a fantastic, friendly wait staff who remember your favorites when you come in. I usually dine in and then do a take out order for lunch the next day to supplement my leftovers. Ample portions, fair price, superior food, this place bests all the restaurants including those located in Asia Town.

A new customer ... their food is awesome! You gotta try it! We have visted several times now and each time the food is sooo good. The chicken is white meat only - no bits and pieces of other parts of the chicken. Also, the vegetables are cooked fresh - so tasty. You gotta make a trip to Dragon Gate!

The waitresses see me when I am out somewhere, and they say "hi"...and they they say..."sweet and sour chicken, huh?" They know that I almost never order anything else...but it is delicious! My daughter and I went last week, and I ordered my usual...she ordered Hong Kong Chicken, both as complete dinners. We also ordered teriyaki sticks. I ordered a pot of tea. The prices are awesome for the amount of food. We had lunch the next day with our left-overs! Love, Love, Love their food! We are so glad that they re-opened. We will visit often!

Did you change the way you make the egg rolls or do you have a new Chef? Went there on New Years Eve, loved the new look but was disappointed with the egg rolls. I finally found egg rolls that were as good as or better then Chun Wahs in Cleveland and couldn't wait until you reopened to get them and then got them and was disappointed. The rest of the meal was great as usual.

Nice, New & Fresh

Our family went during lunch hours so the prices seemd great but you really do not get much meat compared to most places. Just enought to eat none to take home. It is all white meat, which is really important and a good thing. They also give you meat not just chunks of batter like many other places, but you still don't get much I think 5 pieces , probably equal to one breast. The fried rice is not greasy and has veggies and egg and lots of pork, too much and it's real dark....maybe marinated ? Most places it's more pink. You do get alot with the meal also, Lunch is about $6 for a meal which includes, rice, chicken, egg roll or soup and broc. 3 very freah bright green pieces ! My daughter did not want anything but chicken, so that seemed really expensive because it cost $5.25 for just the meat & broc. We tried the general tao, ok not alot of flavor, seasame more like a bbq sauce, and also sweet and sour, that was one of the best sauces I have had. I do not usually like it anyplace. Beef lo-mein, not so good. The noodles are real thin spag noodles more like a chow fun some places serve. The meat was tender.

My Mom, myself & my 10yr old daughter have been waiting & waiting for the reopening and found an option in the meantime. It's Hong Kong Palace on Engle rd, right off of Bagley. It was wonderful! And you can't beat the daily special (including Sundays) which for $3.95 you get a choice of 2 featured entrees which comes with soup and/or eggroll...do I dare say it was a little better than Dragon Gate?

Not many restaurants can boast that they have the best of everything. We've been going for many, many years and every single time we have gone everything has been excellent. Our food has always been perfect and our order has never been wrong. Attentiveness, kind staff, great food and not once have we left dissapointed. How many places can you say are that good, especially at always having your order correct? Every other restaurant I've been to has messed up orders on occasion but never Dragon Gate. So glad to hear they are reopening.

I've been going to Dragon Gate for ummm, 25 years or so. There's no other better around the area or the country (and I try the 'best' Chinese food the locals recommend in every city I go). It's not a buffet like so many others, the food is fresh and cooked when ordered. I introduced it to (my now wife's) family in '99 and they fell in love with the egg rolls, Honey Garlic Chicken and vegetable Lo Mein, we always stick with the HG chicken and anything sweet and sour (it's not the traditional boring red sauce like EVERY other Chinese restaurant in the world...blah), as well as the schez chuan broccoli, terriaki sticks and won ton soup (with the shrimp chips). These are staples, we occasionally venture out of that norm to try something different, and like, but not as much, hence the staple food. In 2003 we moved out of state, but every return visit REQUIRED a trip to Dragon Gate, no matter how short the trip. If anybody came down to visit, it was a must they brought us down Dragon Gate (showing the cooler was required entry into the house) lol. Moved back this summer, and even the house hunting trips required a trip to Dragon Gate, and we were looking around an hour+ south of the area! Glad we got in on the last weekend they were opened on Brook Park, but the craving is getting to unbearable, please open soon! :). PS - sorry for any spelling errors, the spell check on the form doesn't seem to recognize some of the words.

Since you've closed, we've tried going to other Chinese restaurants, but they are all terrible! Once you've had an egg roll, won ton soup, or teriyaki sticks from Dragon Gate, you suddenly can't stand anyone else's. Your pork-fried rice and sweet and sour chicken are the best, too. I haven't had everything on your menu, as I tend to stick with what I know is good, but the entrees I have had are all excellent. We've given up eating Chinese food until you re-open, so step on it, already!

Since 1978

My family and I have been customers of the Dragon Gate since we moved to this area 32 years ago. We have had so many wonderful meals with family and friends there over the years. We like to the get the family meals so we can all share. Our favorites are the Hong Kong Chicken and the Beef and PepperSteak and we love the Won Ton soup and the PuPu platter . We have frequently eaten there on holidays and call it our "Christmas Story" holiday meal. We have never had a poor experience and have always been satisfied w our meal and the reasonable prices. We will see you at the new location soon!

Sad to Hear they are moving

I am sad to hear that Dragon Gate is moving at the end of May 2010. They dont know where they will be relocating to but I hope its still in the Parma/Brookpark area. I have been dining at Dragon Gate since I moved to Parma in 1990 with my family and I just love their food. The only bad thing I can say is that I was disappointed when they switched the way they made their breaded shrimp. Used to be the best in the city. But food is good and cheap.

Not so good...

Tried it for the first time based on the reviews. Makes us wonder if some folks have low expectations? Tried General Chicken and didn't get the typcal battered and sauced concoction we're used to. It was literally chicken smothered in BBQ sauce. Ewww.... Also tried Moo Goo Guy Pan. Not too bad, but really not memorable either. Crab Ragoon were GREASY as were the egg rolls (I'm talking pools of oil). I will say the egg rolls actually contained shrimp which is something unexpected. This was a carry-out order and they did an exceptional job packaging it so there was no way it would spill, but wait a minute! No fortune cookies?.... Price is cheap ($20 for 2 dinners, 6 crab ragoon, 2 egg rolls, and soup), but I'd rather pay more and have a better meal.

Family tradition

I have to save this is the best restaurant I have ever ate at bar none. I have been eating there for years. I started eating there with my mom and sister but they both past away and even when I visited after, they always remembered me and my family. They not only have the best food but the staff makes you feel like family. I have since moved out of state, but I can say if they sent food here I would order it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Food is great for price

Dragon Gate is 1 of only 3 chinese restaurants that I will eat at or from (take out). Their wonton soup and vege egg rolls are almost the best. This is my second choice for chinese food but the other choice is all the across town on Center Ridge rd.
