Reviews of Flannery's Pub and Restaurant

This downtown pub has been around for a while; now, it's a neighborhood anchor in a revitalized area of apartments, condominiums and new nightlife options. A favorite before and after sporting events, Flannery's cozy Victorian dining room fills up fast with diners and drinkers seeking traditional Irish fare at reasonable prices (if you're lucky, you'll find one of the snug, semiprivate enclosed booths available for your party). Pub specials include such standards as fish and chips, meat loaf, Irish stew and shepherd's pie; departures include the Greek chicken - sauteed with kalamata olives, onions and tomatoes and topped with feta cheese - as well as shrimp stir-fry and pasta. Salads, soups, sandwiches and a full range of appetizers (Irish fishcakes, baked Brie, chicken wings and stuffed mushrooms, to name but a few) round out a fairly extensive menu. The bar, which provides excellent people-watching on the busy corner of Prospect and East Fourth, offers several beers on tap and by the bottle, an adequate wine list and a good selection of single-malt scotch.
