Reviews of Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar
|

Steakhouse is an appellation both apt and inadequate for this elegant addition to the Eton-Chagrin Boulevard dining scene: apt because of the perfectly cooked cuts of beef, and inadequate because of the cognac-and-cigar image typically conjured by the word. Fleming's prides itself on being different from more traditional steakhouse chains, offering a softer atmosphere, lighter food preparations and more than 100 wines by the glass. Beef at Fleming's (ranging from an eight-ounce petite filet to a 20-ounce New York strip) is served with little adornment, though peppercorn and bearnaise sauces are available upon request. Seafood, on the other hand, comes in a variety of festive preparations, including grilled swordfish with mango, cilantro and red onion salsa, or almond cilantro-crusted shrimp with orange ginger sauce. As for the wine selection, it's extensive, and those unfamiliar with choosing wine might feel overwhelmed. Luckily, Fleming's accommodates with flights - smaller pours of three different but complementary wines - and tasting portions (two-ounce pours).

The place for Steak!!!
I took my wife out for and adult evening with out our three children. We had heard great things about Fleming's so we gave it a try.
We started our meal with the Breaded Brie ($9.50) and with a glass wine list of over 100 wines we got flights to try three different wines at a fraction of the cost of a full glass. (Two flights cost us $19.50)
We then ordered the wedge salad ($7.50) which I recommend sharing, it was very large, and my wife ordered the Fleming's salad ($6.50) Both salads were fresh and big portions. For our Entrees we decided to try the Prime hand cut steaks as the server described them, I ordered the Bone-in Ribeye ($34.95), I was a little skiddish at the price but when it arrived at the table I was very happy about my choice. I had ordered it Medium-Rare and it was perfect and very tasty. My wife had the Double thick Pork Rib Chop $(20.95) and it was more the she could eat in one sitting, I tried a bite and was delicious. We shared a side dish of the Fleming's Potatoes ($6.95) our server said that one side dish would be more tha enough for two to share and he was dead right, the side was huge. The service we recieved from Marc our server, and the rest of the staff from start to finish is the best I have seen in some time, and for the room it was breath takingly lit with amber lighting and red wood, perfect for our night out.
Fleming's is the Place for Steaks in Cleveland, we will return again very soon!!
