Bad, Bad, Bad
I work in the sales industry and have probably spent over 1,000 a month for Grum's. I had a miscommunication issue with the order and it was made at the Solon location instead of the Coventry location. The owner at the Coventry location started swearing loud enough for all the customers to hear and was being so rude to me. She told me that her son (who runs the other location will probably throw the platter that I ordered away now because of this. I could not believe that after all the business that I had given them that I was being treated like I ruined their whole day. Not to mention that they could have still used the food, or at least given it to a shelter. There was nothing wrong with it! I will never do business there again.

Mean to my Mom!
We used to love Grums for decades...till about a month ago. My family bought a few subs for an early summer dinner over graduation weekend, but our SeaGrum tasted kind of rancid, so we didn't eat it. My mom returned (with the sandwich) to Grums two days later to let them know that there was something seriously wrong with the tuna on the sandwich (they're pricy, too!), and the manager really told her off! (He said: Why didn't you come back in right away? Reason: 1. My sister was graduating from school the following day; family comes before rotten subs. 2. What does it matter, anyway? The customer=always right.) She came back home feeling totally unempowered and frustrated.
This is terribly rude, bad business management. Grums, don't you have the good sense to respect your customers and serve up some competent, polite customer service, especially in this day and age? What if someone spoke to YOUR mom like that???

Once great sub shop in decline
I was a loyal customer of Grum's for decades -- great subs and an unchanging '70s vibe. I really loved it.
Recently the quality has plummeted, and the staff, once fast and alert, seems more interested in talking with their friends than in getting your order right. Asked for wheat bread, got Italian. Not long ago, I found a hair in my tuna sub (ugh!). Is it under new ownership?
I really miss the old Grum's.

Go cold!
The hot subs are fantastic but not much for the $$$. If more than one person is interested I recommend any of their cold subs in the "whole" portion. Its enough for two, sometimes three people. The people are nice and it is in a good location. A good choice for lunch or dinner.
