Bad Service
I have frequently visit the Cleveland area on Business and came to Hecks for lunch with co-workers, although my last visit was unexceptable. Granted the resturant closes at 10pm i arrived at 9:30 and was seated. After receiving my food, i asked for a side of ranch dressing and he told me the kitchen was closed. "are you serious'. I understand that it was near closing time but "No ranch, they r gone for the night'. I thought the server was in charge oh the salads so "no Ranch.I Will never go back again nor recommend this place to anyone else.

not as expected...
I was craving a good fat burger, so I decided to try Heck's for the first time. I was underwhelmed by the food and the service. I ordered the Burger Poivre with the peppercorns and sour cream for $11, I was expecting a heap of flavor from the sauteed onions, black peppercorns and worchestershire sauce. The flavors just weren't there, and all I tasted was the sesame bun and onions. Even the meat patty was on the skinny side. The fries that came with the burger looked fantastic, but were under cooked a bit and swimming in oil at the bottom of the plate. Not the best presentation.
Service could have been better. No one checked on us after the food was dropped off, and our water glasses never got refilled. The only thing that saved the meal was the beautiful patio with the windding staircase and flowers. In all, an ok experience, but not worth repeating anytime soon.

Delicious but $$
Food was very good, gave you plenty to bring home leftovers. Wide veriety of food selection. Was kind of $$ to bring kids. Service was good but sometimes slow. Very clean and really nice atmosphere. Will go back again w/out kids.

Long Live Heck's Cafe!
Heck's has long been a favorite for my mother and me whenever she has come up north to visit. She always looks forward to the warm brie with fruit, and I'm hooked on the cinnamon coffee! Sitting in the back room feels like a pleasant afternoon on the patio. Prices are reasonable, and the servers are always amiable and accomodating!

Nestled into a brick home built during the Civil War era, Heck's has survived both fires and changes in ownership since it opened in the '70s, and it's still a snug and cozy place for a casual meal. Additional space behind the original building has the feeling of an enclosed garden; a wrought-iron spiral staircase and windows near the top of the walls give the space a light and airy feeling. The menu offers dinner salads, sandwiches, pasta and items from the grill. Farfalle tossed with olive oil, Parmesan, spinach, walnuts and caramelized onions satisfies, with al dente bowties and an earthy blend of quality ingredients. The famous Heck's burger still deserves its reputation - a two-fisted sandwich, served with a mound of fresh-cut fries. Desserts are worth the caloric splurge. Special desserts, including lemon layer cake with real butter cream icing, approaches the level of lick-the-plate good.
