Parma HomeTown Buffet Employee

I have been only wrking at HomeTown Buffet in Parma for less then a month now and so far I can say most of us on the team there managers included really try our best to provide quality food and service to our customers. I am a lineserver and do my best to make sure the food is kept up and in stock and fresh on the buffets. I also do my best to make sure my hair doesnt get out and into any of the food and cosntantly clean my hands including even when I have glves on. I am very OCD about that lol anyhow I knw at a restaurant you never know but keep in mind folks this is a buffet and being a cook or line server or chef or dishwasher even we are constantly on our feet prepping cleaning serving and when it gets busy we lucky to get a break in but thats the life of working in a restaurant and dealing with hungry people lol you got to keep pace and keep moving. I myself have als eaten at HTB and the food all seems pretty good to me properly cooked and kept fresh and hot. There are slip ups yes but its not done intentionally atleast nit by most and again people it is a buffet Imagine yourself at a picnic even a family one you got people esp kids reaching over the food and spillng stuff and dropping stuff and you got to constantly keep an eye on it when yur feeding dozens and dozens of people throughout the day. Only thing I feel HTB needs is more relaible dependable employees who show up on time and do the job correctly. But as In any situation your nto always gong to get that with each person... some care and some could give to shits about it. For us that care kudos and t our great managers who do try their best and show cre and respect for their employees I give much respect to them. Now come down people to HTB in Parma on snow road and lets eat! lol

GOOD FOOD, GREAT PRICE

We eat at the best restaurants in the US and Europe. Hometown Buffet does a pretty good job for the price (if you get there early anyway) Much of the food is flavorful and varied. Once I went about 3 p.m. and that time I was very disappointed. The first time we went we had good meatloaf and good roast turkey. That was the best. Today we had fried chicken and meat balls. I like the hot fudge sundaes

bad attitudes

I was not impressed with our last visit which was today 3/5/2012 the food banks had large puddles of water around them a good way to have injuries. most of the meat entries were cold along with the rice and pasta. the manager was very rude, he said we will get to the water spills and the food is at the right tempertures. I can see why they are closing stores with this attitude.

Food Lacks Taste / Some Cold

I went to this location recently for dinner and was not impressed with the choice of food. Also, the food was really bland. Not much seasoning. Some of it apparently had sat for a while since it was cold. Place was not as clean as I thought it should have been. I guess I should lower my expectations. I would rather go to the nearby Chinese buffet. Much better selection and the food is much better. Quite a disappointment.

30 YEAR winner - Only Losers complain

I've been going to this and other HomeTown buffets for 30 years. Food is great, especially for a buffet. No leftovers served. People are conscientious and friendly. Especially great for seniors receiving 3pm special service.

Totally Wrong!!!

I worked at the Hometown Buffet on Snow Road for 3 years and I must tell you that they do NOT use leftovers from the day before! Whoever you got that information from has obviously been misinformed. At the end of the night when the restaurant closes the food is kept for the next morning so that the opening manager can see how much was wasted and make adjustments so food isn't wasted. Also, every employee in the kitchen has their hair securely fastened in a pontail/under a hat... sometimes a hair might get out, it happens but not too often. It's unfortunate when a customer DOES happen to get a hair in their food but it happens... and who says its not a CUSTOMERS hair??? You are choosing to eat at a BUFFET where hundreds of people a day pass through and pick at the food. Also, an environment like a buffet, where everyone is up out of their seats constantly, it is a bit harder to keep the restaurant clean than at a normal sit down restaurant where customers are having food brought to them. All you can do is let an employee or manager know of a mess to be cleaned up. Lastly, PLEASE remember to tip the girls clearing the plates off your table! They only make $3.60 an hour and depend on tips! They don't take your order or bring you food but they keep your table and floor clean and normally one girl has to take care of half the restaurant by herself! Thank you and God Bless!!!

Way Better than a Burger Meal though lunch price is similar

About 75% of the bad reviews seem to have been written by the same person. Bad spelling, bad grammar, same style of writing, same complaints. The eating area is kept clean and bright, and so are the washrooms. The food is wholesome and almost as good as average home-made. Not five star but you're not paying a five star price. You can get a full four course lunch for what you would pay for a fast-food burger meal. Think of where you are and what the cost is... Of course you serve yourself - IT IS A BUFFET - Quite a few neighborhood seniors eat at Hometown Buffet DAILY!! The new added cost of drinks is a little too high at $1.99. $1.39 would make it easier on seniors.

do the food inspectors feel the the same way the workers do? gloom dispare and aggeny on me!

they should not serve left overs from the day before but they do.the workers go aroung checking the temperture of the food, but it's still cold.chech out the chicken stripps!they are setting in chicken fat.if they are going to surve left overs, they should steam the chicken very good before serving it. the first thing they serve, is left overs to start out the day. honestly ! check it out yourself!the food inspector comes in, i have no idea of why they let hometyown buffet get away with these things.of course the workers are going to talk good about their job! the food is not hot enough!nov. 30th 2010

REACHING OVER THE FOOD...REALLY???

Myself and a co-worker went to Hometown Buffet for a quick lunch, well to say the least it was a horrible experience! We waitied in line just to get seated for at least 10 min. For an all you can eat buffet...thats a long time to wait I felt. When we finally got seated, I went up to the buffet and walked behind the buffet so I didn't have to reach over the food and got yelled at by a staff member, she told me I could not be back there because of the knives and stuff. I apologized and walked back around to reach over the food. I thought this was very unsanitary and gross! I will not be visiting this place again! If anyone has any hair or anything on there clothing its falling right into the food because of the reach across the buffet. Disgusting!!

why can't they have real potatoes ? their instint old fashion fansey style potatoes suck. the chicken is still tuff. whats with the huge amounts of butter on the white fish and other foods? fat people can put globs of butter on their own food ! that goes for those big fat managers too. the managers look very sick looking ! lower the prices too ! bathrooms needs cleaning a few times more and better. i always have to clean the toiletseats when using the bathrooms. cleanlyness is good exsept the mens bathrooms.

Unsanitary

I took my family to Hometown Buffet last weekend and was very disappointed. One of the workers who was cleaning and restocking the salad bar was obviously having a very bad day. She was sobbing and wiping her nose while handling the food and when another worker came over to talk to her she replied "I'm already f***ing p'd". I was making up a salad for my son when this happened and was not only completely put off by the sight of her tears and snot dripping everywhere, but also very angry at her language. Completely uncalled for. We went back to our table and she was there for quite awhile just sobbing her head off while the supervisor looked on. The bathrooms were disgusting! The floor was littered with food. We will not be returning.

The food was pretty good and it was very clean. There were a lot of old people and very few blackies. Drinks were included with chocolate milk as a choice. There was a lot of space and it was not crowded. I definitely plan to return.

We Love It!

We are seniors, and have lunch at the Home Town Buffet in Parma at least twice a week, and dinner another two times a week. The atmosphere is always friendly, the restaurant is clean, and most of all, the food is delicious with a wide, wide variety to please even the pickiest of grandchildren. We love it, and will keep on going!

I'M A LITTLE DISABLED AND HAVE TO WALK i can't afford going too far. i've been eating here for a very long time. you can always know how fat a manager is by how much butter they put on the food.just about everthing has butter on it. why can't they let people put butter on their own food? the white fish has butter on it! why ? their potatoes say fansey style old fashion mashed potatoes. they instant potatoes.the white fish would be very good if they didn't load it up with butter. the chicken is tuff. they need to cook it for a longer time.the prices are way too high.when you pay $12.50, the person cutting the meet is cheap of serving a good portion.

A Hairy Experience

A friend and I go out to breakfast almost every Sunday. Where else, Hometown Buffet. We live in Lakewood and use to go to the one in Rocky River until they closed up 2 years ago without notice. Going to the one in Parma was the only option until today. This will be our last visit because of the not 1 but 2 health issues that happened wile we were there. First thing was my friend brought bacon back to the table after waiting for several minutes. When I pulled a piece off the plate a real long black hair was cooked right onto it. So I went up to the buffet and told a worker that I wanted to talk to the manager. While she paged for him over the loud speaker she pulled a tissue out of her pocket and wiped her nose and cheek. Then turned around and started to put clean dishes and silverware away with the same gloves on that she had from the beginning. I told her to change her gloves and why right in front of guest and the manager. When I showed the manager the bacon and told him that I no longer can eat all he can do is say sorry. He didn't even say anything to the worker about the glove thing. I mentioned that we are regulars and the past few weeks with no food on the line and now this we will not return to the restaurant. He showed no sympathy and said, "well what do you want me to do?" at that point I tipped the girl that cleaned our table and left the restaurant.

Mexican food...no mexican rice.....

They have great food...we think but the mexican rice was filled with a tray of white sticky rice.... the employees did not seem to be too busy to talk about the other employees and managers... food is fine there but they need to work harder to refill items and keep up on cooking the different items people go there for

Worked Here

Hometown buffet might not have been the Ideal place to work (I worked there for 5 years), but I would go there to eat every chance I get. I always liked the food esp. the salads they always had fresh ingrediants. Compared to other places I found Hometown a pretty clean place.
