Well no wonder it was bad, I forgot about the chinese menu so I got cafeteria Chinese food

We both got pork delight dinner( husband froze like a deer in the headlights and ordered the wrong thing under the "hurry up and order atmosphere), pork itself was pretty good ( veggies were crisp) but soup, spring roll and fried rice were all cold and not good, spring roll actually cold in the middle, not just the outside, rice just steamed rice with soy sauce. Pork was way overly soy sauced. Forgot about the two menus till I saw a guy with the picture book then I remembered and figured "so that was where all the good looking food was ordered from". Our waiter was nice but basically didn't/ couldn't tell us what the dishes were (IE I love eggplant with Hu-xaing sauce but he didn't know what the eggplant in garlic was and no descriptions on the American menu, nor photos.) Will try again but skip the dinner meals, they stink, and I'll get the other menu. RUSHHHED service, not a place to linger evidently. Carpet filthy, was afraid to use the restroom, ignorance is bliss sometimes ;) $20 plus tip so average for Chinese, less than average value given the only good thing was the entree but am determined so will try once more.

Great Chinese food...great prices.

I forgot how good the food is here since it has been awhile since my last visit. Everything is so fresh and if you are a chinese veggie fan like me, you will really like it. Veggies are really crisp and lots of baby bock choy. Their shrimp are huge and cooked perfectly in a great garlic sauce. Such good prices for good food and very good service. Going back again shortly...this time for the picture Chinese menu.

Delicious and a Great Value!

My husband and I both ordered the dinner special, I got chicken lomein and he got the pepper steak. The meal was not only delicious but very enjoyable! The dinner special has a TON of food for less than $10, no matter what you choose as your main dish. First they bring you hot tea, then your soup and eggroll, and then a massive portion of the main dish you ordered. My husband and I shared and had so much food on our table. The leftovers were enough for two more meals the next day. The dining room was small but not cramped, and the decorations were neat to look at. We stumbled upon this place when we had been craving Mexican and decided to try the big Mexican restaurant across the street. After being ignored by the wait staff for almost ten minutes and looking through a limited and expensive menu, we left and saw Hunan East's dinner special sign. When we drove by it smelled so good, and it turned out to taste just as good. We will definitely be going back!

Real Chinese food

There are many Asian families who eat there. If you're adventurous, ask for the CHINESE menu (with photos). You'll find items that are not familiar to most Americans: squid, jellyfish, pork kidneys, tripe, simple plates of just single vegetables and more. Great place to eat!

Amazing--Always Perfect

My family has been eating at and taking out from Hunan East for at least 10 years. It is, without question, the very best, freshest, tastiest, most generous portioned, Chinese food we have ever had. The food is similar, just not quite as good as what is served in Toronto's China Town. Our favorite items include the lettuce wraps, the special selections from the menu with pictures--Chicken and Chinese Noodles, Mu Shu, and all Orange Chicken is amazing! Go. You will return over and over!

Best Chinese food in Cleveland...Period

We eat here almost weekly. Ask for the Chinese menu with pictures. You can see the dishes that interest you. Or, better yet, look at the dishes ordered by the Chinese patrons. Hunan East is an authentic Shanghai-style restaurant. Michael, the owner, is always there, which explains why the service and food do not disappoint.

Best Chinese Food in Cleveland

I love Hunan East! The friends and family my husband and I introduce it to fall in the love with the flavors, warmth of the staff, quick service, and good prices. With the portions, we always have enough for two meals. I love the pan fried noodles, tofu with pork, bok choy, and lettuce wraps. When my grandmother past away a few years ago, all I wanted to do was eat Hunan East food, it was so comforting.

BEST Chinese in Cleveland PERIOD.

FANTASTIC food. My father introduced me to this restaurant and whenever I am in the area, I make a point to stop here for take out. The picture menu is fantastic and the portions ARE HUGE. The value for this delicious food is unparalleled. The Pork Knuckle and the Seafood Triple Delight with Pan Fried Noodles is crazy good. They use VERY fresh vegetables and a selection of seafood that isn't available at any other Cleveland chinese restaurant that I know of (sea cucumber, baby eels, conch). Also, many of the dishes come with a garnish of Baby Bok Choy, so don't order the Baby Bok Choy unless you are REALLY interested in trying a TON of baby bok choy....but it is delicious to take home. Only wish it was closer to Solon!

Walnut shrimp - YUM!

This is my best friend's favorite restaurant. Her husband is Chinese, an he loves it, too, which says a lot. The Walnut Shrimp is to die for. Be sure to ask for the Chinese menu, as these are authentic Chinese dishes, not our Americanized take-out versions. I also had the steamed dumplings, the name of which I can't remember (not the pot-sticker style dumplings - these were so much better). Tea was served with the meal and was delicious. The service is fast and friendly. It is a smaller restaurant (not quite cramped, but almost) with a cozy atmosphere, but they do have several large tables for family-style service. This is my new favorite place to eat!

Best Authentic Chinese on East Side

If you want a real Chinese food experience, ask for "The Chinese Menu". If you don't know what they are, the menu has pictures of all the items on it. They are delicious! Being adventurous will pay off. Reasonabley priced, and fast and friendly service on top of it.
