What A Change!
Visited Downtown Hyde Park after their remodel; WOW! Much more open, brighter, softer feel. I felt more welcome here than ever before (I eat lunch here all the time). Good bar crowd, and dinner was excellent. Ribeye was to die for; server (Thomas) was polite and smart, not overbearing. Hooray this restaurant is back to what it should be! Quick walk to the Jake for the Indians, too.

Not worth it...
Wow, what a waste of money. My fiancee and I dine at a lot of nice restaurants, as he is in the business. We do not mind paying for fine dining when that is what is provided. Hyde Park in Cleveland was a major disapointment. We went on a Friday night before the Opera, about 6pm, and the restaurant was pretty dead.
Our server did her best to sell us on the most expensive items on the menu. I understand the importance of upselling, but for the 3rd time, "No, I do not want to add a lobster tail to my meal." Let alone, could I even eat all that.
I had filet mignon and we split our sides, as everything is a la carte. The creamed spinach was watery and lacking in flavor. We had to send the au gratin potatoes back because they we hard and uncooked. That took about 10 minutes, and they were still uncookedthe 2nd time. The manager stopped at our table, and I believe he took them off the bill, but still, if you can't get it right the first time, then at least cook them the second time.
My filet was average, but I guess I was expecting more from a restaurant that specializes in cuts of beef.
To me, our money would have been better spent somewhere else, as this Hyde Park must survive on it's reputation of years past, and not on it's current standards.

There are a number of restaurants in town where you can get a good steak. But there are only a few where you can get a great steak, and one of them is the Hyde Park Grille. The downtown Cleveland location has all of the ambiance of a private club, with its lustrous dark woodwork and polished brass fixtures. Steaks and chops are the primary focus, but there are some seafood items on the menu, including a daily wood-grilled fish specialty. Beef lovers will want to order the Kansas City bone-in strip steak, a 20-ounce cut of meat with enough marbling to provide maximum tenderness and flavor. All menu items are ê la carte, but side dishes like fresh sauteed spinach and mushrooms or potatoes GruyÅre gratin are more than enough for two. The dessert list is brief but satisfying, with such selections as the generous wedge of dense New York-style cheesecake, served in a pool of fresh raspberry puree. There is an extensive list of wines, and service is knowledgeable and attentive.
