OK, but a few changes would make a big improvement
) Move the dumpsters (they're the first thing you see as you drive in)
2) Clean up around the dumnpsters (garbage should oo inside them, not on the ground around them.
3) Paint. We sat on the patio and I was appalled how badly the paint had deteriorated.
4) Replace a few stained ceiling tiles near the main entrance downstairs (Again, you don't want water stains/leaks to be the first thing you see as you walk into a place.)
5) It shouldn't take an hour to bring bread to the table. The place was about a quarter full....imagine what it would've been like on a busier day.
On the positive side, all of the food was good and reasonably priced. The beer was cold and our waitress was OK.

Comfortable,Plenty of food, & Becky the waitress
The view is great especially if you are into boating. The north side of building looks out at the Lakeside Marina and Lorain Harbor. You are up on a second floor increasing the scenic array of the horizon. For those who do not wish to walk up a stairway an elavator is also available.
The atmosphere is more or less casual with an old transom from a cabin cruiser suspended from the ceiling with neon Jackalope insciption.
I ordered from the pasta section and asked for the shrimp with red and green peppers and substituted the sausage for chicken. Becky my waitress was patient and made sure my order was brought out as soon as it was ready. The dinner was hot and had a peppery light suace. It had plenty of shrimp and chicken. Definately not a skimpy meal. Becky also made sure I had a fresh warm bun and plenty of fresh coffee. Very satisfied with Becky's friendly service. The prices at Jackalope are reasonable, which means I will go back many times.

WEAK, AT BEST
I frequent many restaurants both locally and nationally. While Lorain County is a great spot for ethnic eats, it has only a handful of notable restaurants. I have given the Jackalope many chances to wine me over. The staff is friendly, but uneducated n the food they serve. EVERY single time I have eaten there, my food has been over cooked. The location is great, but the food and service leave much to be desired. Many local friends of mine enjoy this establishment, but they are the same crowd that love Fridays and Applebee's.

Atmosphere & Food
Jackalope Lakeside is one of the BEST restaurants I have ever eaten in. The food is beyond delicious and the atmosphere is one of the best to see. The marina and the lighthouse add to this lakeside atmosphere. The staff is friendly and the service is great. I would (and have) recommended this restaurant to many people, all of whom have tried have raved as I do. I try to get there once/twice a month. And am glad I do every time I go.
