Formerly John Palmer's Fine Cuisine & Spirits, Johnny D's has kept the same management and decor, but has completely revamped its menu to include a sampling of Old World Italian dishes along with some creative appetizers and salads. Artichoke risotto fritters are hand-breaded, deep-fried and served atop a bed of marinara; for a light lunch, pair the starter with a marinated mushroom salad, which tosses quartered mushrooms marinated in olive oil and spices with fresh arugula and shavings of Parmigiano-Reggiano. Traditional main courses include beef braciole, a pesto-rubbed flank steak rolled with asiago and prosciutto, served in marinara. To make the establishment more popular with the happy-hour crowd, Johhny D's offers daily drink and dinner specials from 4:30 to 7 p.m. during the week; an ultimate happy hour on Fridays features complimentary gourmet appetizers.
