If the proliferation of the ""Johnny"" moniker has confused you in the past, try this: The word bistro (or bistrot, depending on how much of a Francophile you are) is traditionally associated with French food, and so it goes at Johnny's Bistro. But while many a well-heeled patron or expense account businessman may dine at this downtown favorite, the French cuisine found here is neither excessively fussy nor intimidating, though presentation is appropriately refined. The tender braised ribs - meat slipping almost voluntarily from bone - are among the favorites here, a close second being the seared scallops in aged balsamic vinegar. During the summer, take the bistro theme to its logical conclusion, and have your meal outdoors on the sidewalk. The bar at Johnny's Bistro features live piano and, naturally, an impressive coterie of wines and liquors.
